I'm back from one errand and headed out for another, so if I don't respond for a while, that's why.

FNC: Ten Commandments cannot be displayed on courthouses BUT can be displayed on government land.

THere were two separate rulings.

Also, I JUST found out something interesting. The US Supreme Court has the Ten Commandments displayed AND similar displays for ALL other major religions including the Muslim religion and the Jewish religion.

So is OUR religion the ONLY one that is going to have to be removed??????????

I am LIVID.

The SCOTUS did rule that taxpayer dollars will NOT be used to remove displays of the Ten Commandments. It will be MOST interesting to see who steps up to pay for the removal.

... Rev. Graham was a Democrat

Yes, it is being discussed on the conservative talk shows that as a matter of fact, he is a lifelong demoCRAT. I'm sure he joined the party when it truly was a fairly reasonable party, and especially since it was so popular in the south way back when. It might be a Zell Miller situation, where he's "been a demoCRAT all his life and there's no need to change now".

But, that doesn't bode well to be a born again Christian and remain in the party that is vastly pro abortion and supports almost all pro abortion legislation.

Ah..I see. SCOTUS rules that file sharing sites can be sued because of private property rights..... YET.....last week a person's home is fair game. WTH!!

I am now convinced that at least five of the justices have been celebritizied. Mustn't hurt the rich celebrity's feeling.

You quite literally have brought tears to my eyes. I am profoundly moved. JT's sister is keeping a scrapbook of the letters we receive from him. I'm going to print that off and ask her to keep it with them. Thank you. JT will cherish that all his life.

After a week of nothing, today we got two letters in one envelope! I think the worst is over. They did the gas mask thing last week. He wrote that it will be seared in his brain forever. It was so totally horrible. But I felt proud knowing he got through it and he has been changed, matured in ways that are beyond description. It is incredible knowing that my son is prepared and preparing further to defend this country from all enemies.

We must do that also. We must impeach many on the Supreme Court. Their recent rulings undermine the work that our sons and daughters in uniform are doing. We must keep faith with our children.

AAAAAaaach! I'm still not clear... Number 92 was really to both of you and I merely translated lysie's pictures. There, I think I have it right, now.

(((Jemian)))

Your son does us all proud. There is not a much higher honor than to defend one's country.

My stepson specializes in WMD attacks and the training is grueling. And frightening. The worst is over for your beloved son.

Regarding the SCOTUS ruling, it is confusing because the 10 Commandments can be displayed on government property but not on courthouses IF the display is an intent for religious purposes vs. legal purposes.

When displaying the Commandments for historical purposes, there is no necessity to have other religions displayed. I am starting to reach an understanding that other religions such as the Jewish religion would want representation on a Courthouse and as long as the Commandment display does not preclude other religions, it is acceptable. I think. I'm still trying to learn about this.

Thank you for that clarification about the SCOTUS ruling. Please tell your step-son that he among the best. The preparation that he goes through is incredible. I pray that he will never have to use it. His courage is incredible. Thank you for your gift to our country. I am grateful.

Did he send you the "This Place Is A Gas" postcard???

We still have that one on the fridge, along with his "I made it here" postcard.

I saved all Ev's letters too, and will continue to do so after he leaves in August.

I've been told that internet access is readily available in some areas over there so I am hoping he'll be able to keep in touch with us via e-mail, chat, etc.

Re: the gas chamber: he will probably receive a DVD upon graduation, as Ev did, which chronicles the entire boot camp experience. One thing they made a point of doing was film every one of the soldiers as they emerged from the gas chambers. They are told to flap their arms, supposedly to clear the air around them, I guess; some of them are puking; none look too happy. But now when Ev watches it he laughs.

In Ev's DVD we also got to see him rappelling down a wall (he did it in, like, 2 seconds; he was one of the best.:); and there were some shots of him standing in a gym watching other soldiers go through hand-to-hand combat training. He also received a very nice yearbook, and there was a picture in there of him in full BDU's & helmet, holding his rifle.

We were fascinated as we watched this thing; it's quite long and shows just about every aspect of training.

Picture code from lysie!!

Okay...a little humor from The Daily Telegraph & collected in You Really Couldn't Make it Up by Jack Crossley.

Commenting on a complaint from a Mr. Arthur Purdey about a large gas bill, a spokesman for North West Gas said, 'We agree it was rather high for the time of year. It's possible Mr. Purdey as been charged for the gas used up during the explosion that destroyed his house.'

Thank you, Jemian. We are proud of him. When he was in Iraq, we e-mailed articles and updated info from the Baghdad "cam" to him and his unit. They called us their daily intel briefing because they didn't know much about how the war was going, amazingly enough.

Re the SCOTUS ruling, I am very angry that the ACLU types bring these suits because I refuse to believe that the 10 Commandments posted anywhere really harm anyone and think it's an agenda that is driving this.

But at the same time, we have enough Jewish friends to understand that perhaps they ARE upset at not seeing their religion displayed in courthouses.

Given how this country was founded, however, I would think that a wider lattitude would be given. But the world is changing so much and I think sometimes that my mind is too firmly set in my ways and this is what I used to rail against in my grandparents. Some days, I just throw up my hands and decide there is more I don't know than do know.
