Who do you think is the better actor? I just had to post this - I saw almost all of the movies of both actors and I for one cannot decide who's the more crazier, the more talented, or the more scarier of the two.
Me? I have to concede that Pacino would get the edge. Pacino bested DeNiro in "Heat", and he was in the original "Godfather." But DeNiro made more movies - and some of his characters would give Pacino the run for his money (and no, DeNiro STILL couldn't carry Robert Mitchum's role in "Cape Fear", IMO)

In addition to the movies you mentioned, Pacino's role in Scent of A Woman gives him the edge in my book.

DeNiro. Ever since scent of a woman Pacino eats up the scenery.

Yeah but there was a period of time when Pacino made a couple of horrible movies after "Scarface." Then he imposed a 4-year exile on himself.
But then again, DeNiro has also had some crappy movies too, like the "Rocky and Bullwinkle" and "Showtime" with Eddie Murphy.

and he was in the original "Godfather." Unfortunately, he was also in the final "Godfather."

Tough call. I'll go with DeNiro. That's the thing - I'd go with DeNiro too but...damn Pacino was awesome in movies such as "Devil's Advocate" and even "Insomnia."

Pacino. Deniro has become so damned boring. He has the biggest gap between his rep and his talent of any major star--tons of boring performances.
Pacino may not have the range of some actors, but damn at least he's entertaining. HEAT is one of the most misunderstood performances in movies (the charactor is acting).
DeNiro's given some good, interesting performances but tons of boring bombs. Pacino's entertaining everytime out of the gate.

Raging Bull was, IMHO the high point of DeNiro's career, and as such, I think he peaked too early. I do have to concede that as a method actor, DeNiro can be as effective as any actor working today. I read several accounts of persons who worked on the set of Angel Heart and they all indicate that DeNiro had so assumed his role that the sense of evil around him was palpable.

Can't stand Pacino. I think he's one of the most overrated actors ever. He couldn't do subtlety if his life depended on it. I for the most part avoid his movies.
De Niro rocks.
