Some of our most cherished memories in life revolve around sharing a drink with loved ones and friends. A fine bottle of Cabernet with your spouse on your anniversary. A 12 year old scotch with your father. Shots of tequila with the girl you've been after for months. Etc, Etc.
There are certainly people in our history and living today, that I would give my left nu.., er little toe, to share a beer and a long-winded conversation with. The following is off the top of my head, and hundreds more could be included:
LIVING:
3. Bob Dylan - my all time favorite enigmatic musician
2. Donald Rumsfeld - A real man amongst girly men
1. Mark Steyn - perhaps the most insightful, wittiest man on the planet
DEAD
3. Ernest Hemmingway - one of the few writers of fiction I love.
2. Ronald Reagan - The hero of our times
1. Ben Franklin - My alltime favorite historical figure.

I would bring back Mr. "Tree of Liberty..." himself, Thomas Jefferson for a drink. And after he have a few beers, I would ask him pointblank, "Is it time for another American revolution?"
To: MadIvan
Ambrose Evans-Pritchard. That is a good choice.
