The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh heh!! No, I actually saw that as a nurse in the ER. Drunk illegal alien came in with this hugh knife sticking out of his chest. We literally had to restrain him or he would have gotten up and gone home that way.
Can you imagine waking up like that the next morning?? LOL

Heh heh!! See 661.
It didn't bother me at all. Didn't make me queasy in the least to see that guy that way.
I don't like loose teeth.

Did y'all get a picture at the set-up where they were doing forced perspectives?
By the time we were into the actual exhibit we were so beat we didn't do all the side experiments. Plan to go again with my oldest daughter and some other friends, hopefuly with more energy, and give it all a try.
I thought it was wonderful, but do wish they had more from ROTK. Maybe they will later.
sockmonkey, you went as a Hobbit? Were you one of the two we took pictures with? Whoever they were they really looked like Elijah and Billy.

Is there a butcher near you who would butcher and dress them for you not too expensively? After they've been plucked, you could do the cutting apart, like you would any other whole chicken like you'd buy at the store.

Hey, PE...could you tell me (teach me, describe to me) how to build a basic open rectangular box out of maybe 1x2" boards? I need the box to be 4' wide, 10' long and 18" tall.
I need it light, but stable. Each end will have a handle on it.
I just don't even know how to nail something like that together.

I looked in to it and the only one I could find was quite a ways off...lots do beef, but not chicken.

Sorry, I guess when you check in to answer "pings", it can look like you are starting a conversation that is not related to what is being discussed at the time.
Do hope you are all well and having a delightful day. Cheers!

considering a knife sticking out of someone's chest and wiggling with each beat of the heart doesn't bother me at all. Why don't that serprise me?...

sockmonkey, you went as a Hobbit? Were you one of the two we took pictures with? Whoever they were they really looked like Elijah and Billy. No, but I took their picture, and one of my group gave them some double stick tape, and doll hair while we were waiting in line so they could have fuzzy feet. We got there really early-7:45-, so outside we were second in line, and they were right behind us.
I thought that the Frodo/Elijah of whom you speak looked a lot like Elijah..actually, his companion who looked more like Pippin was supposed to be Samwise, but they were really nice kids-Frodo's Mom & Dad brought them, and they seemed like a really nice family.
Kent, the Aragorn was really surprised when he didn't win the costume contest, and I found out that the Tower of Baradur who won first for female has worn that same costume to a bunch of different things and won first place.
I was glad that the Gollum won, even though his costume wasn't too great as he's not a professional "go to all the contests, and conventions and win" person.
I was a lady hobbit, Peg Skankhobbit er, Stoutbottom, but I must say my costume, and wig was better than any of the female hobbits who were in the costume contest. I didn't enter it because I thought that the Arwen in the green was a shoo in for first. Anyway, I thought the female hobbits in the contest all looked like they were wearing their wench outfits from Ren Faire, and not costumes styled like the ones in the film.

We missed the outcome of the costume contest as our tickets for the exhibit were for 2:30 am, which was, of course, the same time as the contests. My husband was about "given' out", so we went on in.
he's not a professional "go to all the contests, and conventions and win" person.
Gee, I didn't realize all this was going on. Those costumes were pretty incrediable. The Arwen green dress headdress was amazing.
I was glad that the Gollum won
He was dressed for the Houston heat, for sure
thought the female hobbits in the contest all looked like they were wearing their wench outfits from Ren Faire, and not costumes styled like the ones in the film.
I thought it was right on the edge of it. But still had a good time. Do you a have a picture? Would love to see your costume.
