The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I must concur, I do believe that 'sky-diving' will remain uncrossed off my life list of neat things I should try. :-)

It's not on my "things to do before I die" list.

A bit macabre though.

Guess I shouldn't listen to The Creaking Door while I'm at work.

I'd do a tandem jump with a licensed jump person. Not on my list of things I must do, either, but I'd do it.

My list:

See England
Go to Australia
Climb a (small) mountain
At the very least, take a trip outside Earth's atmosphere. Moon if possible.

Thanks Suzi, yes, it was great to see the kids. Daughter is getting on a plane in a little while.

Do they have helicopter rides? Seems like I thought they did.

My parents took a chopper down into a volcano in Hawaii.

When we all went to Hawaii a few years back, we hiked up Diamond Head. That was really cool. And there's one bay that's a volcano that blew one side out long ago and now it's this lovely, round bay with the clearest water...

I'm not sure... they used to, but I think they stopped them about 10-15 years ago due to concerns with too much traffic and noise. At the least, I know they no longer allow helicopter/airplane traffic below the rim, except for emergencies.

So...

Today my knees just hurt. Not exactly painful, more achy, but it was very unpleasant and I don't think I can bike home this afternoon. Any suggestions? Any that don't include drinking cod liver oil?

Or do I just need to expect that my knees will hurt when I bike more than three days a week, until I get better at this?

Lovely!

May I offer you an English muffin? I got them at Aldi's yesterday. They're normally 59 cents, but there was a "two packages for the price of one" sale!

So they taste extra good!

Why not try taking a Glucosamine supplement? We take one with MSM (whatever that is), and it seems to keep the joints nice and lubed and not creaky. Could just be a function of the increased activity since you've been riding, but the supplement couldn't hurt.

Heh... yesterday I picked up potatssium and calcium to take along with my multivitamin. If I take much more I'm gonna feel like an old lady.
