The 1970s were a time of some serious changes in our society and culture. Some good, most bad. Here at the Pissant Reasearch Center, we've compiled the Top 5 lists of the good and bad which that forgetful decade foisted upon us.
TOP 5 BAD THINGS FROM THE 1970s
5. Polyester suits
4. Detroits Automobiles
3. Jane Fonda
2. Disco
1. Jimmy Carter
TOP 5 GOOD THINGS FROM THE 1970s (this is tough)
5. Scooby Doo
4. Dorothy Hammill
3. Monday Night Football team (Cossell, Meridith, Gifford)
2. John Paul II
1. Count Chocula & Frankenberry
One of them was married to Goldie Hawn. He's Kate Hudson's Dad. I don't know which one, though.
Pissant...
No disco in peasant blouse braless, dummy. In late 70s/early 80s, dancing in slinky dresses was the thing.
I do remember body painting in the70s, though.
I'm not so sure! LOL!
The El Dorado was nowhere near as cool as the Cordoba with COREEEEEEEENTHIAAAAN leatha!
Oh my gosh the Cordoba! My mom was on a Cordoba kick in the 70's. Traded in for a new model, new color, every year for about 4 years.
And Paul Lynde!
I'll see your Paul Lynde, Oberon, and raise you a Peter Allen.
I'll see your Peter Allen and raise you a Ruth Buzzy!
No. That look was more appropriate for sitting around listening to some bearded guy play a guitar, and drinking Boone's Farm Kountry Kwencher from the bottle.
I agree with you 100%! The story mimics Cameron Crowes actual experience traveling with the Who, the Allman Brothers and Led Zepplin. It's fun to watch it and try to figure out what band he is referencing in each scene.
BTW - Cameron Crowe is tied to two important pieces of the 70's. He wrote the liner notes for "Frampton Comes Alive" and he wrote the novel and screenplay for "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".
Hey, Ruth Buzzi was hot, especially when she did that kids show with Jim Gaybors, er, Naybors.
Jack Wild played the title role in "Oliver" on stage back in England before coming to America to play The Artful Dodger in the film. He won a Best Supporting Oscar for that portrayal.
The young man who played The Artful Dodger in England when Jack was Oliver was Phil Collins -- yes, THAT Phil Collins. He was just a mite too old when the film was made, missed out on getting the Oscar twice in his lifetime before finally getting one for the Disney "Tarzan."
I loved that purse-weilding woman.
Up to an impressive 534 posts.
2nd funniest 70s rumor: Rod Stewart having his stomach pumped.
Ah Crap! Wrong Thread!
Where is the incredibly gay 80's duo thread?
"Pissant..."
That's why he has a grudge against KISS, Gene $immons dated Cher and he didn't.
Anyone mention Leon Russell?
Emerson Lake and Palmer?
Yes?
Jethro Tull?
Come on, Clem...let the other shoe drop. Tell 'em why.
The oldest, Bill. Now married to Cindy Laverne & Shirley Williams.
