It got you here. Hard to imagine it has gotten this many posts. Definately in the running for "Thread of the Day".

I'll have to take your word for it.

But whoever invented the pleated miniskirt though deserves a prize!

I think it was supposed to be Bernie Taupin. Elton was the glitzy one, Bernie the meat and potatoes guy.

That was true for many years....

Bernie wrote the lyrics. Maybe it was an inside joke at the time, although Elton has said that he (Elton) is bisexual. He dated women back then.

Lou Reed used to live near my dad.

He would walk around town in his motorcycle helmet so no one would recognize him.

Everyone would see a man walking around in leathers and a helmet and say, "Hi Lou!" and keep going.

Very funny...

I remember one weekend - Eric Clapton came to visit. The entire town was a buzz with excitement to see Eric. No luck - never caught a glimpse of him.

Of course, I was never a good stalker (back then).

I got my own police issue handcuffs, not the faggy, fur-lined kind.

Godfather I was absolutely brilliant. And then there was The Exorcist, which I saw with friends the first day it was released. We all laughed through it.

Another famous '70s event was suicide by kool-aid amongst the Jim Jones cult in Guiana. It sure put Kool-Aid on the map.
