You could try add/delete programs in your control panel. It may be listed there.

Ad-Aware and Spybot Search&Destroy are both free programs that generally work well at removing such things.

I did have something loaded that was redirecting my browser (I.E. only). Eventually it went away but nothing I ran could detect it.

I also had McAffee anti-virus and it did not detect it.

Also try "View", "Toolbars", and see if its listed there. If it is, uncheck it.

Is this the MYSEARCH bar? That's a tough one.

Get Spysweeper (it's free -- Google it). It does a pretty good job of eradicating the nasties.

Then pledge you will ALWAYS stay out of dark Internet neighborhoods! :-)

Computer Virus Spews Right-Wing Spam

Sorry about your trouble.

"Hijack This" is a very useful free utility, but very dangerous as well. Use with caution.

Ditch IE. Honest to God, almost anything else will give you fewer problems. Try and compare- use IE, then run Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy... then try another browser and repeat. You will be stunned at the garbage IE attracts.

Keep your OS updated & patched.

Run a hardware firewall-- with today's LAN's, it's easy. You need a hardware firewall.

Try a combo of Spybot & AdAware. Between the two, they'll kill most all. Then get yourself a good firewall. AVG and Norton have both worked for me. After all that, Get a router, even if you only have one computer. That will give you one more layer of protection. Not overnight I know, but get there, it's worth it !!!!

You might try Avast Anti-virus (it actually protects against viruses, worms, malware, browser hijacks, spyware and a lot of other stuff). Home edition is free (no strings attatched) and even better than Norton. It is also good for the gamers among us as it will not effect performance.

Register it HERE.

Get it HERE.

I had that problem but AdAware cleaned it up. Ad Aware is free. YOu have to use the "deep cleaning" feature, which is also free.

Now unless I'm freeping I disable cookies. I think I picked up my parasite by clicking on "see my store" feature at eBay. Regular eBay seems fine. NEVER click on a link to eBay sent to you in any email no matter how official it seems. Virtually all of them are sent by hackers who want to install "MalWare" on your computer. I had a bunch of that junk that AdAware quarantined and removed..
