The CBS reality show "The Amazing Race" concluded another contest last night. In an amazing display of p.c. B.S., it jumped the shark, in doing so. In the final leg of the race, the first place team, a white couple, was smart enough to beg their way on to a flight that was 1 hour and 15 minutes ahead of the flight the second place team, a black couple, appeared to have been trapped on to. In an amazing display of See-B.S. bull shiite, the black couple was actually able to get American Airlines to "ask" the captain of the early flight to let them on. This was AFTER ALL doors were closed and the flight was seconds from taking off. This would have been the 'game-set-match'of the show. Nevertheless, affirmative action in reality shows popped up to save the day! Even though Airplane captains don't decide "Oh sure, I'll hold my flight up.You seem like nice folks", this one did. If See-B.S. did not have their cameras there it would have been over. Does anyone older than 8 years old think this was on the level? The white couple was from "Survivor", they went along and the black couple who had been idiots for most of the race won. "Stop the flight. We want to get on!" - my foot! In this post 9-11 world things like that only happen in p.c. dreams.
Was ROB the POW?
Never mind, i looked them up.
Of all the people in the race, Rob was the one i disliked the most. After he drove past the accident in Africa, he lost me.
Yeah Diddle E.
Enough with the racist remarks. You don't know me and you probably don't know Bigboy. You have no grounds to throw an insult around with no grounds for it. You don't agree with me? Fine, just stick to the facts of the subject and avoid acting like a liberal caller to Rushbo.
"...but my husband pointed out that it must be a rule of the game that you are not allowed to stiff people or steal things to win..."
I thought the same thing, but remembered Colin wouldn't pay the cabbie the full fare and were hauled off to the police in TAR 5. But perhaps there is a clause that states if you feel you are being completely ripped off you don't have to pay!
I think it's more that not paying a cabbie in the US is probably against the law and you will be penalized if you break the law. Although, I don't think they enforce speeding.
I judged ya'll strictly on what ya'll posted. Crybaby tripe that repeatedly threw out copout excuses about PC and race. No different than when Jesse Jackson blames everything on racism. You clearly claimed that the results were fixed so a 'white' couple wouldn't win. BS. That 'white' couple also happened to be dishonest, dirty, 'bend the rules and try not to get caught' players, while the winners went out of their way to help others.
You didn't like the results and went way overboard blaming race when that had nothing to do with the outcome. Even if it had been fixed, it would have been because many people liked and were rooting for the 'nice guys' against the 'bad guys' and simply wanting a close finish.
Spare us the "Race, race" wolf cries and you won't get called on it.
Did we watch the same race? Uchenna and Joyce played it smart the whole time. Rob and Amber only did well when they could find a native to give them a guided tour. On their own, they made mistake after stupid mistake.
And they were nasty people and Joyce and Uchenna were much nicer. They won, fair and square.
I was watching the Happy Days reunion show a couple of months ago, and Gary Marshall mentioned the "jump the shark" episode. He said they went on another 100 episodes after that ski jump episode.
Thanks for the injection of common sense. Nobody acts like normal in front of a camera, of course the ticket girls would have wanted to show off.
And the Rabid Rob'n'Amber Fans need to explain how it was that Uchenna and Joyce outplayed them in Miami, even with the time it took to go begging... What, CBS bribed every taxi driver in Miami to make sure Rob lost?
I have to agree. I was impressed that they waited to make sure they had begged enough money to pay the taxi. I thought thwy could have stiffed the taxi . They took a chance to make sure they begged enough money. Plus they were nice to the old couple when they lost all their money and gave them some in earlier episodes. The couple that were the worse was the ones that came in third. They were ruthless, mean called people names etc. I did not want them to win.
I though Rod and Amber were classy about the loss.
"I though Rod and Amber were classy about the loss."
They were, although you could see their disappointment.
But hey, CBS is putting their wedding on tv! That's a pretty good consolation prize, if you like that whole being on TV thing.
I went to HS with a gal whose parents had gotten married on TV, it would have been back in the 1950s, before her and my time, obviously. Interestingly, they were Orthodox Jews and the husband was a policeman! He later became a lawyer. Her mom had some claim to fame to, but I can't remember what it was. Miss Subways? Champion Bowler? Something sort of wacky like that, iirc. Mrs. D. was a sweetheart, but a bit of a nut. No clock in their home told the correct time, but of course the family knew how much each one was off by. I figured they made a great "get married on TV couple" for sure.
