The CBS reality show "The Amazing Race" concluded another contest last night. In an amazing display of p.c. B.S., it jumped the shark, in doing so. In the final leg of the race, the first place team, a white couple, was smart enough to beg their way on to a flight that was 1 hour and 15 minutes ahead of the flight the second place team, a black couple, appeared to have been trapped on to. In an amazing display of See-B.S. bull shiite, the black couple was actually able to get American Airlines to "ask" the captain of the early flight to let them on. This was AFTER ALL doors were closed and the flight was seconds from taking off. This would have been the 'game-set-match'of the show. Nevertheless, affirmative action in reality shows popped up to save the day! Even though Airplane captains don't decide "Oh sure, I'll hold my flight up.You seem like nice folks", this one did. If See-B.S. did not have their cameras there it would have been over. Does anyone older than 8 years old think this was on the level? The white couple was from "Survivor", they went along and the black couple who had been idiots for most of the race won. "Stop the flight. We want to get on!" - my foot! In this post 9-11 world things like that only happen in p.c. dreams.
Also noticed the mega glitzoid wedding CBS is throwing for the seconds. They got their prize, eh?
a. That U&J’s cameraman called a producer, who called his boss, who got some head honchos at CBS together to determine the best option for the show.
b. The head honchos agreed that they should intervene and, then called together their legal team to see if they agreed they could interfere without consequence.
c. Then the legal team put all this in writing.
d. Then the producers met to finalize the interference plan, agreed to interfere, called a head honcho at AA, pulled him out of whatever meeting he was in, and got him/her to waive a general security policy for better ratings and a PC ending.
e. All the while, waiting on the phone while AA checked with their legal team to ensure that they weren’t breaking FAA regulations.
f. Then after AA agrees to the deal, they place a call and explained the “special deal” to the local Puerto Rico representative, who runs to the woman at the gate, who explains the special deal to the pilot and who has a change of heart and reopens the plane.
And all this takes place in the time frame of a few minutes. Yeah! Right!
How about a more plausible scenario.
a. It's not mainland America so things a bit more laid back.
b. The AA gate attendant sees cameras and wants to look like she’s doing a good job.
c. She gives the pilot a call. (Doesn’t hurt to ask!)
d. The pilot radios the tower to get permission.(Again, it doesn’t hurt to ask!)
e. The tower radios back saying sure there’s time.
f. The pilot, calls the gate attendant and U&J are let on the plane.
And all this takes place in the time frame of a few minutes. Entirely more plausible!

First of all let me say that part did look a little suspicious, and that I certainly hope the fix wasn't in.
However, these two certainly could not have been idiots for most of the game, as they were indeed in the final three couples.
Secondly, the white couple did not lose because the black couple was on the same flight, obviously both couple were "even" when the plane landed, so they lost due to whatever happened after that.
Thirdly, I thought they did a great job of begging money to pay off their cab driver, they were stalled for a long time doing that, but they still won anyway.
And finally, although we didn't see every episode of this year's race we watched quite a few of them. I thought Uchenna and Joyce stood out from the others in their supportive behaviour to each other, and the sporting atittude they had towards the other players. You see a lot of anger and back-stabbing between couples on this show, and these two were never like that, not that I saw anyway. For that reason I was happy they won.
I was very surprised the Rob and Amber messed up on the bridge jump. I am not sure how the editing played into that but that is why they lost.
"jumped the shark" is a cliché created when Fonz of Happy Days jumped a shark in its near last episode before being canceled
I'm with you on this one. More likely the girls working at the counter wanted to do something in front of a camera. Plus the plane was already delayed an hour. They were probably thinking whats a couple minutes going to matter now.
Plus, it's not as if Rob and Amber didn't have a flight held for them - in one episode, the flight was closed and they were still at the ticketing counter, but the ticket agent called to the gate to have them hold it.
The right team one this one. Coniving and good luck could only get Rob and Amber so far.
I think they poster is being very melodramtic.
I was very surprised about Rob & Amber too. I was kind of rooting for them, as much as I was rooting for anyone.
I like this show though, it's really pretty interesting. We always say hubby and the kid should go on it. Hubby said last night they'd have been fighting over who would get do the Bridge jump. He also denied that chopping onions was boring! I told him that's why he's the cook in the family and not me!
They lost because they couldn't find the cigar place. If U&J hadn't gotten on that flight, Romber would have run away with it. As it turned out Romber got a huge jump out of the airport, but squandered their lead while looking for the cigar shop. U&J lucked out when their cabby asked someone in Spanish where the cigar shop was and got the answer in Spanish, which was the name of the place. Romber blew it when it counted the most.

Funny, because while watching the show last night I got so sick of Rob saying that could have just cost us a million dollars, that could have just cost us a million dollars, that could have just cost us a million dollars... Seemed like any little mistake or bad luck is what cost them the money - at least thats what he said about half a dozen times.

Very plausible, and great explanation. Well done. My wife and i were headed to the airport several years ago, we were running late due to a flat tire. By the time we got to the airport, they had all ready drawn back the walkway. When i asked if there was anyway to catch our flight, they just moved it back out, and we boarded.
I have to think that Karma came back and bit Romber on the booty, and U&J picked up what they lost. I thought U&J played the game with a lot of character and deserved to win. I would bet just about anything that Romber would have blown off the cabbie and run right in to claim their prize instead of trying to get the money to pay him.
Remind me to never travel from that airport. Terrorists like Atta used a small lapse like that in security to get in the system on 9-11

Agree about the Karma. Since I never watched Survivor (TAR is the only reality show I watch), I didn't have an opinion on Romber before this show - well I didn't want them to win, but loved watching them race. But the minute they drove by the brothers after they'd flipped their SUV, sealed their fate with me. I was hoping it would come back to bite them big time and it did.
I especially loved when they tried to make the others think there was an earlier flight, and there actually was one. Love to see those plots backfire.
U&J were good racers, they seemed to be good people, respecting each other and the other players. It was a nice change after Freddy and Kendra last season.
You could say that Rob and Amber came close, but no cigar.
I was just happy Romber finally lost.
Do people really believe so-called "reality shows" aren't scripted?
Romber should have at least stopped to see if everyone was OK from the wreck in Africa, I agree. There were also another couple of times (telling the bus driver not to open the back set of doors) where their character was tarnished. Although they played the game well and came up with some very smooth/smart moves, their character determined their ultimate fate in the race.
So it was their character that persuaded the pilot to let team Juchenna on the plane?
No, it wasn't. I'm just saying what comes around, goes around. Karma can be a bi#%h.
