I used it twice today...why do I feel like a "snitch"?
Most times I use it, like today, its for language.
Am I wasting the Mods time or what?
I never expect a response from the Mod or expect what I report on to be acted upon...I use it simply as a, "Hey I saw this and maybe you should know about it" kinda tool.

When I was a mod on DU I was alerted dozens of times a day. 90% of the alerts were some DUmmie suspecting another DUmmie of being a Freeper. Well, most of those guys are nuts.
I'd say half of them think that they are under government surveillance, and a majority of them show serious signs of paranoia and delusions of grandeur.
I don't know if its freepers or just people screwing with them, but they do get some posters there from people claiming to be either supporters or affiliated with PNAC, its funny (to me) but it send them into some kind of weird mental state.

Only on the occasion that I am apparently first on the scene of an obvious disruptor post, complete with profanity. Otherwise, I have thick skin and learned long ago not to go crying to momma.

Just did. LOL. No, I really only use it once in a while. I don't really use it on troll threads, because they're obvious to the mods. If, however, I catch a troll on a thread he didn't start, the mods might have a little tougher time finding him, so I'd push the abuse button to call their attention to it.

Other than that, if there's a threat of violence (anything more serious than smacking someone upside the head), I use it. But I've only had to use it once recently.

You may now wake up...

You now wear the mark of the squealer. ... and, though it is indeed a hideous mark, the greater shame is where they put it.

I'm too new here to use the abuse button. But the private reply seems to work pretty well, too. It's called passive aggressive

Maybe you should just go ahead and call your lawyer. Stop wasting your time fooling around with the Abuse Button.

Seriously, if you're using the abuse button on more than the rarest of occasions, then you're probably too legalistic to exist happily in the FReeposphere for any length of time.

At least once a day to keep it from getting rusty ;-)
