The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The pool? I'd probably run it pretty regularly. You could try without it for a day or so and see if the water gets grungy. I've never had a backyard pool.

Homegrown never is as good...

I should keep it pruned, I guess. Remember reading something about herbs that are kept pruned are more aromatic or whatever.

goats don't do real well around these parts... too many predators...

course I could use 'em as bait...

talked to some folks the other day... they had 50 goats on 300 acres... after two weeks they were down to a dozen... some got out (and were eaten), others stayed in, (and were eaten)...

but I will say, roasted cabrio is durned tastey...

Oh dear...

I was off playing with pens again. Tryin' to write a Bible passage in psuedo calligraphy in hopes I can stick it in my brother's birthday package...but I keep messing up. And now it's about time to sleep. *yawn*

When we stopped for lunch today, there was a TV on in the bar of the restaurant as we walked through. At that point, the All Clear had been called. I didn't slog through the thousand posts yet, so I have no idea what happened. I'll figure it out in the morning.

"Spamalot" was terrific. So much 'over the top' acting and singing. We loved it!! And yes, the girls were very surprised. Apparently, Gina had told her daughter that we were going to see "Fiddler on the Roof" and the subterfuge held because the theater showing "Fiddler" was right next door to the Shubert! At the last minute we gave them the tickets and they realized we were going to see it. They had mentioned, when we got to town that they'd love to come back to see "Spamalot" sometime. Heh.

How cool! Glad you're back safe.

Gonna go to bed now. We had a cool end-of-semester relax time. Played a card game, "Chez Geek" - Clare might enjoy it, it's a Steve Jackson game.

Gina had told her daughter that we were going to see "Fiddler on the Roof" and the subterfuge held because the theater showing "Fiddler" was right next door to the Shubert!

We had friends who recently saw "Fiddler" with Harvey Fierstein. They said he was good, but just didn't have the "heart." It was also an AIDS benefit of sorts. Took an offering after the curtain call.

Then they said, "he's not gay, you know" but that he's a straight actor who plays those roles. Said he talked about his wife.

I dunno...

Did he say what his 'wife's' name was? If he's straight, then he's a darn good actor!

I can't imagine his gravelly voice doing Tevye, and I've never heard him sing, but then, I've never seen him on Broadway.
