I said it was wrong to kill her. That is my opinion. Nothing can change it. No list of "facts" will ever change it.
And I put "facts" in quotes because most of the so-called "facts" posted here were in fact "opinion." Whether it was a poster's opinion, a reporter's opinion, her husband's opinion, a relative's opinion, a supporter's opinion, a detractor's opinion, a politician's opinion, a lawyer's opinion, a doctor's opinion, the president's opinion, the governor's opinion, or even the judge's opinion - they were and are all opinions.
And none of them are incontrovertible or indisputable fact.
In fact, they continue calling in more doctors and more experts to give their opinion even after it's all said and done. In this battle of press, public, politicians, doctors, lawyers and "experts" the side with the most thumbs down votes won and she was killed. What was it, two out of three or three out of five? How about we go for seven out of twelve? How about one "no" vote out of twelve and you don't execute?
The last I heard, in this country when you are on trial for your life, if there is one doubtful juror, you don't receive a death sentence. The accused receives the benefit of the doubt. Of course, Terri did not even receive the benefit of a trial much less the benefit of the doubt. She was simply snuffed out per a judge's order based on three out of five expert "opinions." It's a shame and a disgrace and a mockery of justice.

Some people just don't seem to get that. They claim her case was thoroughly reviewed by 12, or 20 judges (or whatever number they're pulling out of their butts this week.) One judge decided her fate, and every judge after that just affirmed the first judge's right to do anything he damned well pleases.

Well said!
An idea whose time is long overdue:
When the state takes innocent life, it cheapens life.
It was a disgusting indecency and demeaning to the values of a civilized society.
Terri Schindler will never be forgotten.
Meant to ping you to this. Thanks for posting JimRob's editorial. Speaks for many of us.
Agree wholeheartedly.
Well said.
Like I said before, I think this quote should be printed in big, bold letters on the FR Home page.
Those six, short words say it all. Nuff said.
Hear, hear.
It produced people whose views are in conflict with yours.
If and when your views prevail, they will ask the same question.
Will that circle ever be unbroken?
Neppers.
Let us agree that no individual is ever a vegetable, despite terms that attempt to describe a person as such. This terminology serves only to dehumanize an individual, thus making it all the more easier to terminate a life. We are uniquely human.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." (Psalm 139:13,14)
Regardless of Terri's condition, if her parents were willing to care for her, they should have been allowed to do so. But with the strike of a gavel, and the decision announced, an innocent human being was murder. Our executive and legislative branches of government made a half hearted effort to reinstate Terri's feeding tube. But in the end ONE judge said she will die. And Terri did.
God have mercy on us all.
Me, too. I can't believe they got away with dehydrating her to death.
Only because good men did nothing.

I am truly sad that you feel it is right for a man who commits adultery and has two bastard children with his mistress to have the "right" to dehydrate and starve his wife to death - his wife being a woman who was able to laugh until she was tied down and let to die of thirst.
I wager you have never been without water in the high desert on foot in summer. I have - miles from any water. It's torture. To deliberately subject someone to that hideousness is cruelty upon cruelty. To approve of that is inhumane.
I hope you reconsider.
I'm very glad you spoke on this.
Navy Patriot wrote-->The only difference with Terri is that she got more publicity than the others murdered in similar fashion before her."
I agree with you concerning all those *Others* who have been tortured/murdered in a similar fashion before her.
As I discussed what was happening to Terri this past month with a friend, we again talked about her Grandma that was starved and dehydrated to death many years ago. Rather than to do surgery on her for a life threatening illness, the doctor decided to end her life by withholding water. She cried for water or even just ice for almost 2 weeks, while her lips cracked and etc.
I assumed the doctor covered his tracks and put the illness as the cause of death on her death certificate. However, that was not the case. I was shocked to learn, her Grandma's cause of death was listed on the death certificate as * Deyhdration * in 1977. That being said, I'm sure the problem is even larger than most of us ever realized. I know, I sure didn't. The doctor refused to operate on the Grandma back then and instead killed her in 1977. Unbelieveable.
ON THE DEATH OF TERRI SCHIAVO
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued the following statement today concerning the death of Terri Schiavo:
This is a shameful day for our legal and political systems. Under court order, an innocent woman, Ms. Terri Schiavo, was killed by starvation and dehydration. Politicians at the state and federal level were derelict in their absolute duties to protect innocent human life. Our culture has crossed an awful Rubicon for we now have legal precedent for the murder of innocent, disabled and voiceless adults. We hope the American people are now alerted to the crisis posed to this nation by an activist judiciary that would sanction such barbarity. Our prayers and condolences go out to Ms. Schiavos family.
