Terri: It's not about the "right" to die anymore. It's much worse.

Posted on 03/26/2005 6:13:09 PM PST by -=[_Super_Secret_Agent_]=-

We have moved beyond the debate about the "right" to die. It's much worse then that.

The situation right now is this: unelected judges vs elected officials. Who is supreme?

Whether you agree or disagree that the person should have the "right" to die is not the matter anymore. The judge, UNELECTED, ordered the starvation of Terri is far more much worse and the precedent for the future of US will be HUGE. Situation like this make me scare to death when I'll be in court knowing that the judges have the power of life and death over me.

"If it were only as simple as elected vs. un-elected! Greer is apparently quite popular, even today. The people have chosen . . . and they have chosen evil. Not surprisingly, the other judges--including those at the federal level, who were appointed--have read the handwriting on the wall (as contrasted with the writing in the Constitution and in the bill Congress passed to save Terri's life) and have backed Greer at every step"

Don't expect the judicial branch of government to rein in it's power. It's up to the legislative branch to put the brakes on this lunacy. God help us if they don't

A living will will deny the courts a decision on your fate!

For the moment, perhaps. But I have no doubt that soon, very soon, precedents will be set that will allow whatever wishes you may have expressed to be ignored. The slippery slope is, almost universally, inevitable.

Actually it was the Fl. legislature that wrote a law that said hearsay evidence could be used in end of life decisions - that happened in 1998 - and immediately MS and team went into action. If you ask me I bet Felos had a hand in getting that piece of legislation signed. I don't know who the Governor was at the time.

Maybe her death will compel Congress to do what they should have done a long time ago. Impeach these Federal Judges who stand in the way of the will of the people

So you think a living will is sacrosanct in the eyes of the court? Where did the court get the ruling for Roe? They did not honor the Constitution then and they will not honor a thing unless it suits them. I find it amazing you think a living will has any influence with them that the highest law of the land does not. Where have you been living for the last 30 years?

"do you honestly think that would have been plastered on the news 24-7 the way the underwear incident was?"

Oh, I get it! Maintaining Islamist Terrorists dignity is of the highest importance, but to dehumanize a living, breathing, Christian, White Woman isn't. I get it now. Thanks for clearing that up for me. No wonder the NOW Gestapo hasn't said a peep about this.(/sarcasm>

Felos and the sponsor of the bill that changed the language to make food and water artificial were in some kind of Greek fraternity together.

They can't do it alone. They need the support of the executive branch, to enforce laws in defiance of court rulings.

Unfortunatly, George Greer was re-elected by the voters of Pinellas County, Florida.

And, he got campaign finances from the scumbag Felos as well!!!

I never said that! All I said was that the absence of one will surely put you at the mercy of the state more so than if you had one! The Judiciary has for the last 40 years set social policy without any check from Congress. You can thank your liberal friends and neighbours for that.

I agree that one of the Bush boys could have been a genuine hero here. Instead, they backed off - no doubt on the advice of their lawyers - and the political result (as opposed to the obvious and dreadful result of Terri's death) is a major increase in the power of the judicial branch. Because every time you let a bully get away with something, he just gets bolder and meaner and harder to stop the next time.

The liberals have already set the Constitution on fire. I understand the need to maintain our laws, etc, but when is it the right time to step in and stop tyranny?

Our government has just sanctioned murder by non-action. The judicial branch is totally out of control because of the Leftists who appoint these nightmarish time bombs to our courts.

Yes! You can sign a living will and be starved to death on your own say so! Line forms to the left.

Hey! I opted for a bullet to the head in my living will...Now a judge will order it...no suffering for me!...(sarcasm off)

Isn't it ironic:

Most Christians will be celebrating the RESURRECTION of an innocent life from the dead on Easter Sunday Morning,

and perhaps the atheists will be celebrating the DEATH of an innocent life on Easter Sunday morning.

"The guardian has no discretion," said Felos. "It is not the guardian's decision to do this. It must be done because it is the order of this court."
