"So, way to go Republicans! You've now given the Democrats control over the US just because you let your emotions be manipulated without thinking of the consequences."

I probably shouldn't take offense at this crack, but it DOES seem a little over the line to me. Personally, I think all of the Republicans involved did the right thing and were NOT just "manipulated" by emotions.

HAS ANYONE WONDERED WHY THE MSM HAS ALL-TERRI ALL THE TIME?

No, but I wonder why FR has "All-Terri, all the time".

The media manufacture consent by what they highlight, what they ignore, and how they slant what they report.

This Shiavo saga has the elements of a soap opera as well as a car crash. It appeals to sheeple on many levels.

It hardens attitudes and divides the population. It serves as a distraction for a number of other issues such as Darfor (where 100's of people are starving) and this weeks latest UN power grab.

This is yellow journalism at its finest.

The long view (IMHO) is that since starvation or dehydration are obviously inhumane ways to "let someone die," the next tactic of the Right To Death crowd will be assisted "suicide" via lethal injection/overdose. Right to Die will thereafter become Duty to Die. This is the slippery slope, or perhaps the cliff, off which we have now fallen.

I'm not optimistic about assisted suicide being defeated in Florida if it were put to a vote via referendum.

My local MSM did seconds on Terri Schiavo. Then they went into a segment on how to spice up your salads. Maybe there is some demented twist to their thinking - you know salad - vegetables

What little time they give to Terri Schindler is ususally in defense of her husband.

your analysis is based on flawed polling. Your argument is pathetic. First of all today's USA Today Poll that shows Bush's JA @ 45% has a sample of 37% Democrats and 32% Republicans. So this is obviously a slanted poll. Terrance and Rasmussen who were the most accurate in the 2004 election have Bush @ 53%. And besides who cares. If this is such an unpopular position for the President to take then why aren't the Main stream Dems opining on this subject? Because everyone knows life is the way to go!

The MSM is saying that the POTUS and the Republican Congress got involved with Terri's plight because it would help them POLITICALLY. You are saying it has RUINED the GOP POLITICALLY.

Conclusion: You are smarter than the entire GOP [very conceivable] OR [and more likely] the POTUS got involved because HE BELIEVES that this case was so convoluted that our CULTURE should err on the SIDE OF LIFE and he is NOT POLL DRIVEN, HE IS A LEADER.

As for the INEPT GOP Congress, well it is about time they tried to reign in the courts. Problem is the COURTS are OUT OF CONTROL and THIS TRAGIC case has MADE that a startk reality.

There are THREE Branches of Government, they USE to BE, separate and EQUAL. They are no longer equal, the JUDICIARY now RULES this nation!! If you did NOT believe it before this case, YOU MOST certainly must believe it NOW. The POTUS, the US Congress and the Florida Executive and Legislative branches have been completely neutered by the State and Federal Judiciary.

My disgust is not against, Congress, President Bush, or Governor Bush.

My disgust is aimed at the running the country by judiciary, the fact that judges are liberal Clinton nominees, and the stalling by the DEMOCRATS over our President's judicial nominations.

The liberals know what the Schiavo case is really about...it's the wresting of power from the executive & legislative branches of government. They are flexing their "judge" muscles.

Come on people, direct the angst against the right demon.

Congratulations! You have a developed a fan club (of sorts) over on DU:

Amazing! A Freeper gets a half-assed clue...

They agree with all your major points. They do take issue with one point you brought up – your absurd (in their world) contention that the media is liberal.

simple, ratings. ratings soar when people can watch the misery of others and when there's college girls in bikinis eating bugs, just ask Rupert Murdoch.

This is why the MSM is covering the Terri Schiavo case - they know it's a 'lose-lose' situation for President Bush and the GOP. The longer they play it; the more damage is done to the Republicans.

That's only true if WE play along with them and jump on THEIR bandwagon.

What these mean is there's a direct negative causal effect against President Bush and the Republicans.

If there's a price to be paid for doing the right thing, even if it means hurting you politically, then so be it. Saving the life of Terri means more to me than winning an election.

This is why the MSM is covering the Terri Schiavo case - they know it's a 'lose-lose' situation for President Bush and the GOP. The longer they play it; the more damage is done to the Republicans.

Actualy, the MSM thinks or HOPES it is a lose-lose for the Republicans. But what are they gonna do about it come election time? Point their fingers at Republicans and scream, "They tried to stop her from starving to death"? And how long can the Dems keep up the charade of pretending to be for states rights?

Even many congressional democrats have come to realize that this is not a losing issue for the Republicans, regardless of what the polls say. The MSM however, doesnt get it.
