Posted on 03/21/2005 6:06:07 AM PST by FeebleAttempt
Why dont we just tax the heck outta pot and make it legal? i believe it would pay for my generation, and it would be all government controlled. You would have to be 21, i mean am i missing something here or are we missing an opportunity? If we just let go of this taboo crap we might get along without any social security problems. All the taxes from pot go to SS, what do ya think

Pay the folks who are 50 and older what they've been promised, then let the rest of us sink or swim. What about what I've been promised? I'm 36 and have paid mucho dinero to that ponzi socialistic security scam. You can give it all back to me right now, and I'd go along with your plan.
We should:
1. Legalize the illegals, so they can pay social security.
2. Get rid of the income tax.
3. Legalize the drugs so our law enforcement can concentrate on keeping the new influx of illegals out of here.
4. Get rid of personal property tax.
5. Free oil from Iraq for everyone.
6. And lastly give every citizen 10 acres of land.

I'm older than you by a few years, and if they would quit taking my money right now, and I didn't get anything in return, so be it. Someone's gonna have to bite the bullet. And the quicker they quit taking SS monies from me, the quicker I can try to invest it for a longer amount of time.
Oh, and legalize pot because it would reduce space taken up by non-violent criminals in prisons, so sex offenders who have been arrested 24 times aren't free on the streets. But the guberment loves the revenue from seizing property because of the drug laws.
Let us uphold the principle that adults should be free to make their own non-rights-violating choices (even if the choices they make are stupid). (thanks to Mr. LeRoy)

Some of us don't do either, choosing instead to be productive members of society and a sober example to children.
Now, there's someone I'd like you to meet....

Actually, what might save the drain on the Social Security system is if the government would stop handing out SSI benefits to recent immigrants and expect them to work for a living.

It's that attitude that will continue to perpetuate social security. Somebody's going to have to bite the bullet. I'm willing to give up what I've paid if they'll just stop taking any more.

You just signed up, but are already familiar enough with the forum to post onto your "about" page, which some of us didn't get around to for seveal YEARS. And this is what your page says:
"you may insult me. But you were curious enough to look me up. your a chimp"
***OK, I will insult you, chimp-dude. You smoke too much dope, you obviously have an axe to grind, you can't spell nor write coherently, and there is little doubt that you've been zotted in the past. But I thought it might be interesting to read what gets posted about this particular subject.

Lesson from NY state and the disgraced Cuomo Administration:
In oft whispered tales of Cuomo's 'great economic ideas' for the state, there is told that he had a plan to tax prostitution.
Now, whenever you want to tax something, you have to create a means to ensure quality control and regulation.
And when you create such checks and regulations, you end up creating an overly bloated bureaucracy that will continue to bloat.
Anything that creates bureaucracy is bad.
Thankfully, this never went beyond trial balloon brainchild.
But it is one of the legends of the Cuomo Governorship of NY.
As an aside, one thing Cuomo DID have as a brainchild and go through with: redefining "Road Service by Permit Only" to mean that you can't change your own flat tire on state maintained highways due to that 'taking business away from the state', and you cannot have someone come out to help you i.e. spouse or friend, you cannot call a tow company other than the one designated for that section of state maintained highway blah blah blah..
Not enforced as aggressively as when Cuomo put it into effect, and hasn't been disassembled yet, but it exists.

It already is taxed, just collected through the courts and LE efforts. The difference is you are asking for it to fund SS, while it is currently funding ever expanding courts and LE departments.
Why would the government ever give up the goose that lays their golden eggs used to build little feifdoms?

I'm about the same age, and I would be willing to let them keep mine if I could opt out. Kill SS and let me be on my own. That 13% raise could go a long way towards an early retirement!
