The Republicans seems to be pandering to the 'religious right.' -- and awfully late in the game. I will have to stay a little longer if they do actually do the right thing here in this Schiavo case. If they don't, I am gone. I understand that means political irrelevancy for a while, at least on a national level, but it's not as if the donations I have given to the Republican party have actually done anything anyway.
I just posted this on another thread regarding the response to Terri VERBALLY pleading for her life:
"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'" Weller explained.
At that point, police removed Weller from Terri's hospice room and, later, her feeding tube was removed.
Apparently they didn't like Terri's accent. /sarcasm
This is pure unadulterated evil. If the Republicans cannot stop this when they have a majority in both houses, a Republican president, and a republican governor in the state in question, then they are worthless and don't deserve anyone's support anymore. If this woman dies because they got caught up in debate and refused, yes REFUSED to take action, (they have had PLENTY of time for this before now if they even cared) then I for one will not support the party anymore. I just can't. I have been hoping against hope too long. It's Time to pull THE GOP's feeding tube.
"As for a husband beating family members the is unlawful abuse and the police should arrest him if he is reported."
It's hard to report him when the only witness has brain damage and won't be given therapy as per the husband's request!
No, buying a new car would be voting for a new GOP rep in the primaries. Dumping the GOP is like giving up on autos and switching to feet or a bike. An option, but not really practical.
Good point, though my intent was the same meaning as your distinction, I should have noted it in my rant as well.
Thanks.
You're going to not find it very fitting to your ideals on this forum if you think the governemtn is someone these people are going to trust. Even if it is unlawful, you are more likely to see someone here make sure they do what they can BEFORE the cops arrive.
That being said: This is a young woman's life we are talking about. Terri is alive, is concious, and thus has a right to live.
Pulling her feeding tube is the same as arresting you for talking bad about the State and taking your guns away from you.
It is in violation of her rights. Noboy else's "feelings" matter in this case, the Constituion has spoken. But some judges feel they are above the level of the Constitution, and so their "opinion" in the matter seems to drive them, not their interpretation of the Law.
Read it. It isn't that confusing. These guys are making crap up and using it to excuse killing someone.
If there are two things the State should be accountable for, it is protection of our rights, and protcetion of our lives. Beyond that, feelings do not apply to them.
There are something like 280 million Americans. I think the GOP has bent over backwards for this girl.
I signed the Save Terry petitions but if Congress stepping in truly unconstitutional I will not be signing any more petitions.
AMEN! I firmly and fully agree. I have been played the fool for far too many years. The Christian Right is to the Republican party what the Black vote is to Democrats. We are their dumb plantation workers that they occasionally toss a bone to. Mighty nice of you massah! This slave is going to rebel.
"Grow up, threatening those who are trying to do something is irresponsible."
On the contrary. Doing meaningless (and they knew it) actions, are irresponsible and dishonest.
"We have non-activist politicians and activist judges! That's a "bad" thing in my book."
AMEN!
Oh ... I hadn't thought of that analogy.
Remind me not to call you in an emergency.
No, that would be like not voting at all and going off the grid.
