Fill in a Newbie
Posted on 03/15/2005 1:19:21 PM PST by RedBeaconNY
Hey, I'm new to the FReeping world, and I'm slightly baffled by some of the unique things to FreeRepublic. What the heck is a ZOT? Who are the viking kitties? Can somebody fill me in on the trolls, the BTTT's, etc? Thanks.

Ok.
I've never heard of Safari. Is that a new browser?
I've only been using the internet 10+ years or so. Guess I missed hearing about that one.

Welcome to the Cyber Neighborhood, kiddo.
You will get used to this place and its conservative, yet oh-so-fun-loving culture.

I'm not sure how old it is, maybe a few years? It came on my new computer and I like it.

Microsoft Internet Explorer. Hmmmm. That IS strange. I use Mozilla Firefox and the < blink > function works for me. And 4Mycountry noticed it blinking earlier on this thread. (What browser are you using 4My???).
However, I just opened my Microsoft Internet Explorer, and it does NOT blink using it. BD476, it sounds like your post #106, you don't see the blinking either? Your post #106 doesn't blink for me using MS Internet Explorer but it does with Firefox.
I'm taking a seat-of-the-pants guess that HTML "blink" doesn't work on FR using MS Explorer for some reason. (But I'm a NON-Techno wizard, too, LOL!).
Strange .....

Some of the old HTML I've found appears to be disabled on FR.
Remember the old handle that got overused so much?

Should have read:

Right! Marquee still doesn't work - whether using Mozilla or MS Explorer. Blink works with Mozilla but not MS Explorer.
And I DO miss Marquee, too. :^(

Ah, okay. Thanks. Looks like it's DOA for MS Explorer browser, then.

ya... and they used to come to my town all the time... to talk to the liberal hippies in ithaca college and cornell... I wanted to go, but I figured I might do something like the british guy who threw a balloon full of purple flour on Blair... so I avoided them.
They are very silent senators- I have not seen them in the public eye since I moved 9 months ago.
