When a performer covers a song I particularly enjoy, they'd better do a good job or I spot all the weaknesses. The song I thought Carrie butchered badly was "God Bless the Broken Road." As I've mentioned at length earlier on the thread, I used to like her a lot. Then something turned me off her and I grew to dislike her a lot. I think it started the night she came out looking like an adult version of JonBenet Ramsey, but I know for certain her rendition of "Broken Road" disgusted me, frankly. It disgusted me because the judges were dishonest in their comments afterwards. The performance sucked big time, but they fawned over her as usual.
Now I can understand why the iPod is so popular. You get to put only the songs you really like on it, and don't have to spend (in Urban's case) $18.00 plus tax for an album full of blah songs just to get the one you want.
Yes and, like most of her fans, I hope she stays that way. Going out of her way to entertain our troops is big in my eyes.
So far, so good, Emily. She does wear the obligatory clothes that show a bare belly, shoulders, back and such. But so far she has resisted going the cheap pop tart route. Also so far, she has resisted the over-produced, gimmicky type of concert that many performers rely on these days to cover up the fact that their vocals are made in the studio, not by nature/God.
Although she's a pretty girl, Kelly isn't the gorgeous chick type. Kelly is authentic and if she can hang onto her authenticity, she'll be around as long as she wants to perform. She's still very young and there's as many potential pitfalls ahead of her as there are potential successes. I hope she finds much more of the latter than the former.
I'm pinging the rest on my tiny list in case anyone else wanted to download it.
Oh! Thank you for the ping! Love it.
You can now hear the "Inside Your Heaven" single (studio version, with new verse) ...

I have no idea how long this will be available, so listen while you can!
It sounds a lot better with studio technology to add bells and whistles and such.
Chad Kroger of Nickelback and Bryan Adams will have songwriting credits on Bo's album.
Now that's high praise coming from a Kelly fan :)
Bo's "In A Dream" was one of those performances that we always hope to see, but seldom do.
You're right, I can't think of another song/performance on AI that has left such a lasting impression.
"...I know where I come from and I really wanna keep people around who remind me of that. If I can do that, I think it's gonna be fun."
Amen to that, Carrie.
HA! :)
Thank you both :)
Always!
I'll try to keep my tagline for a couple more days, but people are starting to talk! ;)
LOL! That's what I said :-D
Did he ever answer that? I don't see any replies.
Carrie's "Inside Your Heaven" sounds GREAT! That song is really growing on me.
And Wolfstar, you have to listen to the "In A Dream" link--it's crystal clear and it reaffirms what you said: It's the greatest AI performance ever. No question.
Margaret Thatcher.
She's a nice girl, but I don't get the impression this girl is meant for Stardom.
Bo has a chance at some real hits in the top 40 stuff if he can get and decent or better material.
IMO, his career is ready to go NOW!
Thank you VERY much for the link to "In A Dream." I don't own an iPod, bug now understand its appeal.
I hope both Bo's and Carrie's albums are excellent. I'm hoping to buy both, but will only do so if I like the music on them.
However, Clive Davis was on Ryan Seacrest's radio show today and said both artists will be in the studio soon to record their albums before the AI summer tour. That's rushing it quite a bit. They have very little time to really think through what would be best for them in terms of what the market might buy these days.
