Hello... I want to have a little fun with my karaoke thing here. (I apologise to the more serious conservatives in here without my kind of goofy sense of humor for this post, but I need a little help)
Ok, I want to sing a song and put it into mp3 - it's the words to NY, NY, but I need lyrics to make it relate to Dan Rather. Of course the song will start out "No more spreading the news, I'm leaving today"
I can't seem to get too creative on this and was wondering if there were any fellow conservatives out there with a knack for poetry and an appreciation for a little rightwing nonsense. As Willy Wonka once said "A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men". I don't know who said it before that, but I remember it from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory.
Anyway. I got a mike, my Acoustica sound mixing program, and the Karaoke version of Sinatra's New York, New York, and I want to make fun of Rather and I need a hand with the words if anyone's willing :)

Parody for Dear Old Dan!!
CG, karaoke
I was thinking of tweaking the tune O Danny Boy -- the sentiment is there and it sounds somewhat Western, suitable for the faux-Texan...
Here ya go.
I am a Dork (sung to New York New York)
Stop faking the news,
I'm leavin today.
I'd Rather dig a new hole now,
I'm just a dork.
The C B S News,
Has shoved me away.
They'd Rather bury all of it,
I'm just a dork.
I want to make up some fake memos,
And not get caught.
I'll be the king of my views.
Call it the news.
Spread lies to you.
And get my dues.
Thaaaaaaaa C B S Neeeeeeews,
Has shoved me Awaaaaaaaaay,
I'll fake a brand new start of it.
I am a doooooooooooork
If I can't fake it there,
I'll sit in my underwear.
And start a blog to clear my name
I am a Dooooooooooork.

Thanks for the ping. I wrote something fast.
LOL!
Kind of a rush job but it can be tweaked if anyone wants me to.
I think it's awesome, I will try using most of it! Sure, if you feel like doing another draft, that would be great!
I am also thinking of one for "That's Life" ... I been a puppet, a pirate, etc...
That is awesome, pe.
How much time do I have? To really do a good parody I need to go hunt up the real words. I went my memory off the cuff.
That's Life... sometimes it makes me cry...
those bloggers got thier kicks
by exposing my lie,
but i denied it, and it got me down
and now, goodbye CBS, see ya around...
I like it, CG...let's go with THAT one...MUD
That's a good one, dfu...MUD
Oh no rush... I guess even by sometime early evening, I'm just playing around with words now, too. just having fun lol - yeah!, if you can really do a full thing, It'll only take me about 20 minutes to get it all down along with the music. And then get it into mp3 URL form to share it.
I like fooling around with Acoustica... These are some things I put together recently with some dem lunacy:

"Daniel" was good, but something along the lines of
Dylan's "Desolation Row", would be even better. (JMHO)
Funny. I used to sing professionally. Now I hit karaoke night sometimes. Drifters, Roy Orbison, George Strait, etc. I am a Barotone that can sing Bass or Tenor for short hops. Love music. I just tweaked "I'm just a dork" feel free to play with it and use it in any form. I'd love to hear the results.
