Suspect Arrested, Elderly Woman Beaten to Death

LA MIRADA — A 21-year-old man was under arrest in connection with the beating death of an 89-year-old La Mirada woman, authorities said.

Eric Steve Caballero of La Mirada was stopped by police at Meyer and Leffingwell roads in an unincorporated part of Whittier about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Don Manumaleuna of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Caballero was driving a Chevrolet Astro van when he was stopped for a traffic violation, he said.

What led authorities to connect Caballero with the slaying was not immediately disclosed.

Caballero was taken the sheriff's Norwalk Station, where he was booked on suspicion of murder and held in lieu of $1 million bail pending arraignment in Downey tomorrow, Manumaleuna said.

Adelina Garcia was found dead by a family member about 4:35 p.m. Friday in the home she shared with her grandson in the 15000 block of Stanbrook Drive, sheriff's Deputy Bill Spear said.

An autopsy showed she died of blunt-force trauma, having suffered multiple injuries to her head and fractures to both wrists, said coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie.

The home was reportedly ransacked.

They caught the person who did it hours after prayers started.
He was known to a grandson and had been to the house before, which is why he had to kill her from testifying against him I guess.

Looking at the picture taken at the time of capture, I would say he's hopped up on all kinds of recreational drugs to the max.
Looks VERY drugged.
