The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I think those are cool! They are such beautiful creatures. A pair of eagles have set up a nest in Llano which is about 40 miles north of Austin. This doesnt happen too often here.

Heh, probably so. I would have been very unhappy, if I'd hit it... I think they're beautiful birds.

That is awesome, Hair!! How long did it sit on the pier?

I took the kids to a Raptor Rehabilitation place once. The guy had a 'pet' Bald Eagle that was almost 3' tall! I'd never realized just how large they are! One of it's wings was damaged and couldn't be repaired so it could never fly again. While we were there, it was tethered in the front yard, and it always positioned itself in between us in the crowd and him. It was very protective of that man.

It sat there long enough for Dad to get the camera and take several pictures... these were just the best ones. I think he said it took off and then later came back.

We've seen them pause and circle again as they flew over... we always wondered if they were evaluating Ramius's cat as a potential meal ;~D

OK - I am goin to bed now.....

hehe, she actually does quite well, she just ~loves~ to 'fingerpaint' with the cheese sauce.

Tonight she had veggie-ABC soup. She of course got it everywhere, but not quite as bad as the mac-n-cheese. Green beans and carrots aren't as fun to photograph, either.

BUT, this mornin she ate a whole, adult sized pancake for breakfast (minus the syrup and the butter). Gave herself a tummy ache, she did.

To: HairOfTheDog; g'nad

Great photos of a magnificent bird.

I think I can speak even for g'nad and say the bald eagle is a magnificent bird, and perfect for the American emblem. Nobody messes with a bald eagle and lives to tell about it.

Ben Franklin wanted a wild turkey (the flying kind, not the drinking kind) for our emblem. Sneaksy and cagey, but also good eating when bagged.

I'm glad Franklin lost that argument.

I have faith that God will send the Holy Spirit down upon the Cardinals and they will make the right decision for the Church.

So do I. But I have no faith in the political liberals and CINOs. They're already writing "think pieces" on how the Catholic Church needs a "21st century" Pope to "modernize" the Church in areas like women priests, gay-lesbian-trnagendered, abortion, divorce, birth control, gaia-worship, and wealth distribution. You'll see a tsunami of these articles right after the funeral.

Thank you.

Today was the opening day of baseball season. We all got up nice and early and ate pancakes, even bittygirl ate a whole pancake. Then we proceeded to the ballpark and we all got sunburned, except for elf-boy.

elf-boy's team lost their game... big time. We weren't disappointed though, since half the team has never even played before, and, as a team, they have only had one complete practice.

Thankfully, they don't have any say in the matter! ;o)

Moring OT. Hope the furnace filter crawl space adventure was successful. We'll be heading out shortly to recommence dirt therapy. Got a bit of transplanting to do in the newly cleaned space.

Kitty was inside during the filter change so I didn't have to chase a cat around the crawlspace.

I'm out of dirt....the race starts at noon assuming that it isn't raining in Tennessee...no grill yet...and I should be doing taxes anyway.
