The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, at least one of my brothers would have starved too - acid reflux and esophogitus. And the cram 'em into this perfect mold philosophy was the opposite of everything my parents wanted. I mean, they homeschooled us to prevent us getting shoved into the government's mold, why apply someone else's just because they claim it's Christian?

Well, I don't have any kids (as far as I know...) but my surrogate parenting of some girlfriends' kids has sure taught me that every kid is different. From the start.

Some of them were just great to be around, and some of them were difficult, and I sure couldn't point to anything other than innate personality-- it sure didn't seem to be much that the mom or me could change.

Except for that one kid. But he was possessed by the Devil, so he had a tougher time of it, naturally. I don't know what happened to him now, but he got me thinking about loading some silver bullets.

Was it you who had said you have that funny Opera Explanation show on videotape?

When they say to put your breastfeeding infant on a schedule - well, that's just not right.

What a stoopid idea! That's the beauty of breastfeeding; it's always available, and always the perfect temp whenever the baby is hungry! I enjoyed it because I could just sit down and relax! Trying to put the baby on a schedule only tires everyone out and could seriesly screw up your milk production!

properly assembled kid units

Actually, one of them appears to be falling apart.

I understand that some sort of self-initiating upgrade protocol is operating.

Good Morning!

"Burnett" pronounced "Burn-it" (durnit!) and "Buda" pronounced "Byooda"

:)

Memories...

Man Shack...

Usta listen to an Austin morning radio show that did fun April Fool's Day stunts...like "the space shuttle is in trouble and will land at Austin airport" or "the station's format has been changed to 'all disco, all the time'" and then spent the rest of the show playing disco, commercials, news'n'weather, and more disco.

That's me.

In fact I've ripped the soundtrack and cleaned it up, and as soon as some other priorities get cleared up (like when my cousin, who owns the equipment, finishes recording the entire TCM library) I plan to put the video with improved sound onto DVD. THat's way off in the future, tho...I have some 12-year-old home video camera tapes and the original original Star Wars Trilogy ahead in the queue.

I can make you a VHS copy with original sound right away. Don't bother sending/paying for tape...I have surplus. Just freepmail your postal, and I'll get it done when I get it done :)

don't the jury people have your name permanently asterisked as "unsuitable for jury duty, will vote for death if the case warrants - and it warrants"?

they will after the 31st...

hey, if'n they aren't guilty, they wouldn't be there in the first place, right?...

Just vaguely! We should, though!

Likely we'd be through in time for breakfast on the sixth...if my calculations are correct. And if we push it a bit on the fifth, we might even be staying not too far away.

What do you think?
