Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

..well, I'm actually one of those warrior deacons, but the idea is only less intense. :)

And you're on my prayer list too, Rosie. Especially for safe and happy travel. Thanks! I do appreciate it. I think I'm more worried about the travel than I am about the job search! I'm just a small town gal...the big wide world of interstates and traffic scares me.

Gah. Pregnant friend spend half of class looking like she's going to collapse, so I took her to the doctor. Seems she's got pregnancy-induced asthma. And it's now after noon and I've done nothing... oh well, some things are more important.

That would be anachronistic, Ma'am (and entirely probable) Not necessarily. The Teacake recipe I have looks like it could easily have been 'baked' over an open fire, or for sure in an early wood stove. Would fit very well in a Middle Earth atmosphere.

I'm accomplishing very little. Too preoccupied with the latest Terri news, mostly.
I need to leave and go mail packages soon. May leave early to do that, if only a tiny bit.

Are you workin' tomorrow? I have to... at least some time, unfortunately, but I'll have to leave early to get ready since I have to be at church an hour early.

I work tomorrow, yes. My brother gets the day off, but I don't.

Oh, well. I've never actually gotten Good Friday off but I always leave early...
It's a nasty cold day here and this morning the wind was wrong - about twice a month the wind blows exactly the right direction and with exactly the right strength and the air smells like cows. It's the biggest downside I've found to living here so far.

...the big wide world of interstates and traffic scares me. I certainly hear that. We moved from CA to NC, going Interstate 40 most of the way and, while we were driving a 25 ft RV, that's still no match for the semi's. We would get passed and blown all over the place. So we mostly just slowed down, went into the slow lanes and let the world race by. We got here just when we expected to and happier than if we'd pushed it. Cheers.

Evenin' all.
Am back from Thunderstormy Florida. How I love coming home! (I so love being home.) It's all week in NM next week. Hope I can finally get some sunshine....
To: Lil'freeper

I silt it.

Evening!
I've got tomorrow off and I'm taking Monday too. Flying back to NC tomorrow morning....hmmmm...guess I should make sure what time the plane leaves. 10'ish, I think. I'm making cookies to take home.
I've got a wisp of a forsythia blooming in the backyard...woohoo!
To: Overtaxed
You get to go home? Waaahhhh.... I wanna be home... they're on their way to the Maundy Thursday service by now...

Still feel bad for the mail person. I'm strange that way, I guess. Well, when you arrive in CO, you could bake some cookies or brownies for him or her as a belated "Thank You"!

Did you and Talon DJ ever figure out if there was a place to meet up and have an Eatmoot during your trip?

It would be much appreciated if, those of you who pray, could add me to your list of devotions about that. Consider it done, but get ready, Deacon Beleg. This seems to be a very powerful prayer gang. When someone asks for prayers, they seem to be answered in abundance.

My late Daddy in Law was an Ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church, and my brother in law (sister's husband) is also. They were actually ordained the same day, almost 26 years ago. We had to choose which one to attend, and of course chose Sir SuziQ's Daddy's! ;o)
They were in the very first class of Deacons for the Diocese of Jackson, MS.
