I am so out of the loop on FR social or inner politics type threads. I am a serious donor and love this place, but I am not really a "group" person. So I don't have a clue about the stuff going on back then and I am not sure I want to know!

Yes, some discussions get heated...Some posters get very passionate about their positions....A person learns which threads/posters to stay away from, just as we learn to stay away physically from certain individuals in life. OTOH a good open debate never hurt anyone and is the basis for rule by the people, for the people.....

It's a political board .. there's gonna be disagreements about politics
