For all of us who could not be there in person I've put together some great pics (along with some great music to go with them) of our First Couple enjoying themselves. (click on the each of the 3 song titles to listen to the music)
Thank you, Zac's Mom, for this wonderful look at our first couple. The pics had me smiling head to toe. So gracious, so elegant, so joyful and so reassuring to all of us, somehow. These two people are so special, in such an indescribable way.
And Hoosiermama, the pic of the kiss, full of that kind of love that is so great to see in the two who set the tone for our nation. God Bless Laura and George.
I am so delighted they live in our White House.
Yes, Republic they may stay in Our House any time....
Bah Bah, Minute Gal.....thought you should see this....a love so rare.....
Thanks
Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
Just the way you look tonight
Lovely....never, ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it
'Cause I love you so....just the way you look tonight
Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm,
Just the way you look tonight.

I've been hunting for that picture....Thanks You. DO love our First Grand Lady.
LOL, I'll say!
;^)
WHen I called dad yesterday morning one of the first thing that came out of his mouth was...Oh our Laura, wasn't she JUST beautiful....SHe'll aways be remembered for the way she looked walking down the street, at the balls, etc....
Today he comment how tired he was....I asked him if he had had trouble sleeping....No he had just stayed up late last night to look at all the Inaguation tapes again.......
Wait till he see all of these pictures...Like him just can't get enough of it....A perfect week.
What a wonderful thread! Thanks for the stunning photos and music!
Ping to FReeper Friends......Enjoy!
Leni,
Do you know where the words/vocal of "Laura" are/is?
They play (danced to it) at several of the balls.
I know it's a movie of the '40 or '50....
It's a beautiful song about a beautiful Lady.
I can think there's a big difference between it being a fixture in the Oval Office and 'set dressing' for a public event (or a sh_tty television show).
And you see Laura on a train that is passing through
Those eyes how familiar they seem
She gave your very first kiss to you
That was Laura....but she's only a dream
(Sigh)
Leni
I can think of sooo many words to describe this family but that ever comes out of my mouth is AWWW!
I felt like I had bobby sox and saddle shoes on again!
Leni
Thank God our Lady Laura is more than just a dream.....
(Bet Laura's cheek IS soft. :o)
What a night to remember!
Do you know where the words/vocal of "Laura" are/is? They play (danced to it) at several of the balls.
They dance to it at ALL the balls and when I first heard it, the flood gates opened and my husband asked why I was sobbing, sheesh! How positively romantic and clearly shows a man devoted to his beautiful wife as these pictures show.
Some pundit said there hasn't been a first lady as popular as Laura since Jackie O. and I'll add she gets more beautiful with age.
Lyrics to Laura written by Johnny Mercer:
Laura is the face in the misty light,
Footsteps that you hear down the hall,
The laugh that floats on a summer night
That you can never quite recall.
And you see Laura, on the Train that is passing thru,
Those eyes, how familiar they seem.
She gave your very first kiss to you
That was Laura, but she's only a dream
