~The Dragon Flies' Lair~XVII~
January 9, 2005 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Dear My Melody, thank YOU for sharing your thoughts and kindness.

I agree with you, we can all "real talk", and I am happy happy happy that we are here to communicate our desires and wishes.

You take care, and the best to you always!

Our time zones Helga....you sleep and I am still having my evening!

I must thank you for sharing with me earlier about this song.

~ I Remember You ~

By discovering your post here earlier, I was not only able to indentify the voice singing in my mind, `Cattle Call` as that of Slim Whittman, whom also sings this song, but if not for your sharing earlier, I may have never known that this man singing here tonight is not Slim Whittman.

It will only play a small portion for me here, but it was enough for me to attach Slim Whittman to the song I was hearing throughout my day today! That was really driving me crazy not being able to identify. Sometimes if we can`t identify a song that comes to us inside, it might be ages before it comes again, if ever. So I always try to find out. I never thought it would be sitting like a golden egg in the Lair! ha ;)

I took the name you gave me of the Artist singing;

~ I remember You ~

here on this post;

"Frank Ifield"

and sailed out to find him.

I never would have known this. I surely must have heard him before looking at all the songs he did. I learned so much history about him tonight. A very talented man and as I read along, he was the first Artist to have Three consecutive #1 hits in Britian and also to be awarded Three Gold Discs in the space of a Year!

I did not know, and I Thank you.

So many great songs, Lovesick Blues, The Wayward Wind, Waltzing Matilda...My Mom used to call me Matilda all the time when I was younger, I must remember to ask her about that tomorrow ;)

~ I`ll Remember You ~

good night *

Such a gift ~ I love music
Thank you

Duty Surviving Self-Love

Unchanged within, to see all changed without,
Is a blank lot and hard to bear, no doubt.
Yet why at others' Wanings should'st thou fret ?
Then only might'st thou feel a just regret,
Hadst thou withheld thy love or hid thy light
In selfish forethought of neglect and slight.
O wiselier then, from feeble yearnings freed,
While, and on whom, thou may'st--shine on ! nor heed
Whether the object by reflected light
Return thy radiance or absorb it quite :
And tho' thou notest from thy safe recess
Old Friends burn dim, like lamps in noisome air,
Love them for what they are ; nor love them less,
Because to thee they are not what they were.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Ah Helga is awake and MM is sleeping! Two Different Worlds, la la la la!
:-)
Thanks for the info on Frank Ifield. I did not know any of his recording history, but have this song of his stuck in my head since the 50s.

It was a haunting song for a young woman and remains so until this day.

I have wonderful soft ware that both searches for and downloads music.

To: SAMWolf; All

This is so `Great` Samw.

I had a half hour to read some of Samuel T. Coleridge`s poetry. I had read very little of his work before, mostly his very short poems which are worth a journey in themselves.

The one you posted here today made me want to seek out his work further. What I discovered is that he also writes much about nature all around and lots about flowers. What a wonderful find!

The message in todays poem is priceless, and the Picture alone takes me a hundred places in my mind and soul. I can smell the salt air and hear the seagulls cry. Mist on my face and hunger for Mo`s clam chowder! Are you going to tell me to go fly a kite? Yes? That too! :-) I shall fly my kite high today and run with it too! I`m a child again!

It will continue my whole day ~

I wonder if each person who visits this poem and studies this picture, if their time will allow, how many hundreds of thoughts could fill in the blanks to:

Today I Am ----- ?

Today I Am so thankful...

I see a poem that journeys us

A picture that speaks a thousand words

and a new book to look into...

all in one man`s post.

What might you find tomorrow Samw?

I know!! It`s goes Woof!

I can`t help but only wonder, did you intend on giving us So Much!? :-)

Bentfeather often speaks of your music in the mornings. My receiver can`t play these, but I know you choose good songs because she mentions about them often. Music makes people happy.

I know `You` make people `Happy` too.

Hope your day is Grand :-)

Since I can't contribute any "original" poetry, I try to find things I like and that I think others here might enjoy. Glad you liked today's poem.
