Bama has a long history of National Championships. If you ever lived in the state (perhaps you have), you'd understand the inferiority complex of Auburn fans. Its pitiful to watch.
Oh you are not kidding about that. Believe me, I know. The whole setup down there at the barn now with Tubs, the new AD (i.e., Pat Dye's bag man), Lowder, and lets not forget Richardson will be plenty of fun to watch for the next 2 or 3 years.
I'm no Auburn fan, and loved the fact that they couldn't play for the mythical nat'l title while on probation. But let's be honest both Alabama and Auburn have a long, long sordid history of being 2 of the dirtiest programs in college football. (Along with Tennessee, which somehow has pretty much gotten a pass...)
My grandaughter gave me a shirt for christmas called the grand slam. I am sure you know the meaning of that. I had the same bet ($50)for thirty five with a friend, untill he died 7 yrs ago.
I remember one "National Championship" that Alabama split with Southern Cal - after SC had beaten Alabama during the regular season! Chalk that on up to bogus, sectional voting.
