Auburn beats VA Tech in the Sugar Bowl, 16-13, to finish the season undefeated. 2 days ago Utah whipped Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl to also complete an undefeated season.
USC and Oklahoma play tomorrow night in the bogus national championship game, but in truth, once again no one will know who was the best team this season.
USC is the best football team. Is there any doubt in your mind?
Stuart Smalley says they're ALL winners.
Next week, Auburn vs. Texas, Utah vs. the OU-USC winner. More incredible games. How hard is that to pull off such a common sense final step? Let the 2 highest ranked conference champs host that game, and then a neutral site Superduper Bowl.
Only 4 schools would have their athletes miss any more school, so that argument is bogus.
Absolutely there is doubt. Compare Utah's schedule results with USC's, margin of victory is almost identical for common opponents. Utah whipped A&M, OU struggled to survive a final play.
No way to know who is the best this year without a playoff.
The joys of being an Auburn fan...finish undefeated and STILL no chance at a National Championship. :)
I totally agree college football needs a playoff system. Utah fans got really incensed with the comment that their team was the 'intruder' at the BCS bowl game. The BCS really messed up this year, however, I see no changing in the next few years.
USC is the best, but they have to prove it on the field tomorrow night against Oklahoma. Anything can happen, and that is why the games are played. That is why it is so irritating to the teams outside of the BCS monopoly to have literally no chance of playing in a BCS bowl game or heaven forbid, actually win a football national championship. Such greed, and such a shame.
The winner of the Orange Bowl will be without question the best team in the nation.
After all the horseshit with this stupid BCS system, that fact is for sure, so all these Auburn crybabies (and the Utah wannababies) should just please STFU!!!!!!!!!!
Just like the last time Auburn went unbeaten
And the growing sentiment for a playoff has reached a point that really the only real obstacle are the (mostly liberal) college presidents.
Auburn needed to blow Va Tech away, but it just didn't happen. VT has 2 losses and played tough against Auburn. 16-13 ain't a blowout. Auburn should not get a share of a championship.
After watching Florida State's demolition of West Virginia, I'm convinced they should be the nation's top ranked team. Ignore the season's loss column.
Auburn is the best team. The NFL GM's polled all agree. The BCS a joke but they did get it right last year. OU will win but they aren't #1.
That is what I was thinking---
Didn't Auburn go undefeated a while back but not get to play in a Bowl game because of some mischief or something?
If so, I would really start to believe that there is a curse on the Tigers like the Bosox had on them---not good.
Auburn needed a big win ,it did't happen!
They won't
Yup. They were on probation last time. As an Alabama fan, reminding the Auburn fans that they're STILL 6 behind the Crimson Tide is akin to watching the DUmmies bitch about the electtion.
Then screw you. There is no way to say for certain that OU or USC are better than Auburn or Utah. None, it is all just subjective opinion, they are all undefeated. Again, compare Utah's schedule results to USC's, similar margins of victories over common opponents. Sorry if that upsets your false construct...
Auburn and VTech were the number 2 & 3 ranked defenses in the nation....there was going to be no blowout in this game unless one team's defense all got the flu.
Auburn beat more top 15 teams than either USC or Oklahoma....Auburn should have been playing for the national championship.
Oh yeah, the mighty Utes have proven themselves over the years (and this year) indeed.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!
