Auburn needed to blow Va Tech away, but it just didn't happen. VT has 2 losses and played tough against Auburn. 16-13 ain't a blowout. Auburn should not get a share of a championship.
Auburn needed a big win ,it did't happen!
They won't
Auburn and VTech were the number 2 & 3 ranked defenses in the nation....there was going to be no blowout in this game unless one team's defense all got the flu.
Auburn beat more top 15 teams than either USC or Oklahoma....Auburn should have been playing for the national championship.
I wouldn't vote Auburn #1, but that isn't the point. The problem is that this isn't solved on the field.
Hey, the undefeated Miami Dolphins (1972?) only beat the Redskins 14-7, with Washington only scoring on a long fluke play similar to V. Tech's. Margin of victory doesn't always reveal a strong defense.
No way to know without a playoff.
Sorry USC, sorry OU, the NCAA is likely screwing one of ya'll out of an undisputed championship. One would think any Trojan or Sooner fan with pride would be angry about that.
It amazes me that people actually think like this, that people can actually buy into the NCAA "winning every game is not enough" nonsense.
Division 1-A football is such a total joke and a fraud.
I have to agree. Auburn had to win convincingly. VT stood a chance at the end of the game. Auburn blew their chance.
Virginia Tech played USC even tougher than they played Auburn. None of this can be settled until we have a playoff. Does anyone think that USC would have run the table in the SEC? C'mon get real.
