The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

X Boxes are 'cubey' either. Must have been Game Cube. There are lots of fun games for it.

With Jr. we pick our battles. Some of 'em ain't worth fighting.
Hair length is one of 'em.

Amen, Master Dwarf. Hair grows, gets cut, gets funny colors, gets cut...
We didn't have to worry about it when the boys were in high school because they were in a Catholic Boys school that had a dress code; suit coat, 'dockers' style pants, no sneakers, tie (though they could wear any kind that wasn't obscene), and hair no longer than the collar. BOTH boys grew their hair long as soon as they graduated. Paul recently cut his when he went interviewing for law firm jobs for the summer. He got one in Boston! David is letting his grow; it's almost to his waist.

Paul graduated high school in '98' and we let him stay home the week that summer while we went to the family reunion because he had a job at that time. He'd seen everyone earlier that summer cause SSQ's Daddy had died, so the family was all together then. We got home from the reunion about 2 am on a Sunday morning, and immediately went to bed, so we didn't see Paul. We rolled out around noon and SSQ was sitting at the kitchen table reading the accumulated mail when he saw out of the corner of his eye, a figure with orange hair come in and say 'Hi', Paul had bleached his almost black hair while we were gone and it was truly ORANGE!! He was teased mercilessly by Clare and Joseph as you can imagine, but the funniest reaction to it was later that day when we went to Mass. We usually sit up front and there was Paul with his 6'2" frame topped by blazing orange. Father Paul processed in with the opening song, went up onto the altar and looked around as he gave his greeting to everyone. He saw Paul and actually did a double take!! LOL! Then he looked at me and kind of raised his eyebrows as if asking, "What do YOU think of that"? I just kind of grinned and shrugged.

Yep, in the grand scheme of things, hair is a nit. Within two years, he'd tired of the color, but decided to grow it long, and now, 6 years later, his hair looks like it did when he was in high school. ;o)

"Bassers" are people who like a lot of bass in their music. They drive around in cars with four-trillion-watt sound playing recordings of what sounds like aboveground nuclear tests, but with less of an emphasis on melody.

LOL! The incomparable Mr. Barry. His son will be a convenient source of comedy for us for several years.

I don't want to see someone's underwear, or worse, their plumber's crack!

They're contributing to a totally different 'crack problem'!
