New book argues Abe Lincoln was gay

NEW YORK, Dec 16, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- The age-old debate of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln's sexuality is due to be stirred up with the release of an author's determination Lincoln was gay.

In "The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln," to be published next month by Free Press, the late author C.A. Tripp claims Lincoln had a homosexual relationship with the captain of his bodyguards, David Derickson, who shared his bed whenever Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd, was away.

Tripp died last year, two weeks after completing 10 years of research on the book, the New York Times said.

Tripp charts Lincoln's relationships with other men, including Joshua Speed, with whom he shared a bed for four years, and Billy Greene, with whom Lincoln also shared a bed in New Salem, Ill. Greene reportedly said Lincoln's thighs "were as perfect as a human being could be."

In researching the 16th president and founder of the Republican party, Tripp created a large database of cross-indexed material, which is now available at the Lincoln Library in Springfield, Ill.

Age old debate??? First I ever heard of that!

It's where the Log Cabin "Republicans" gets their name.

So, if sleeping in the same bed constitutes homosexuality, I suppose that the Stooges were a menange-a-trois?

Moe! Larry! Cheese!

And the famous episode where John Adams and Ben Franklin shared a motel bed. Adams complained about Franklin wanting the window left open. Adams fell asleep to the sound of Franklin's lecture on the health benefits of fresh air. A true, classic tale about 2 ardently hetero men.

"I think "death" turns historic figures gay."

Funny how these revelations seem to only be made about historical figures who aren't around anymore to contradict them.

Well, they took X-rays where they were laid to rest I guess and I guess they think they found everyone buried in garter belts, panties and a bra perhaps.

Or, just maybe this is a further reflection of the mental illness flowing from the gay community where they are desperate for acceptance.

They will never of course be accepted as "NORMAL".

Due to politics, it was changed from a mental illness 24 years ago.

As a Southerner, I don't have a lot of good things to say about Abe Lincoln. But gay?? That's just stupid. Just another homosexual trying anything, even junk science and junk history, to claim a famous historical figure as one of "their own" to legitimize their own perversions.

Lincoln had his flaws, but being a turd burglar was not one of them.

Historical types
aren't the only targets.

Mischa Barton's O.C. character falls for a woman

The O.C.'s Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) will fall fast and hard for another woman on the show this season. "There's another character who she really connects with," says creator Josh Schwartz. "It's a girl, which is not something Marissa may have anticipated. But she's willing and game to explore and experiment with that." And we will be there for her. Interestingly enough this isn't Barton's first time playing the role of a lesbian teen. She played one a while back on the series Once and Again as well.

Obviously you don't frequent the Civil War threads here since they gleefully try and homonize Abe.
