IF YOU WERE FORCED TO KILL SOMEONE WHO STARTED SHOOTING AT YOU IN TEXAS, YOU ARE CONSIDERED THE SUSPECT EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY THE GRAND JURY AND ACCEPTED AS A VICTIM OF CRIME BY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.
THE COPS WILL NOT CHANGE THAT STATUS OF A CITIZEN.
WHEN A COP SHOOTS A MAN WITH A KNIFE OF OTHER WEAPON WITHOUT ATTEMPTING TO KILL THE COP, THE COP IS THE "HERO".
WHY IS THAT? CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN?
If you added a couple of STOP's, it would look just like a telegram. Nice work.
1) Get a copy of the concela handgun laws here. It has a LOT of information on deadly force.

The cops don't know what happened, because they were not there, so they must investigate homicides as possible crimes.
When a cop shoots someone, the initial premise (if the cop is on duty) is that it is legitimate. However, cop shootings are always investigated as well. "Hero" status only comes after the investigation shows it was a "good" shoot.
P.S. (I can't help it) Next time don't use all caps. It is considered impolite.

Western Union ROCKS (STOP). Internets will come and go, but for instant message delivery across the country or continents, nothing beats a telegram. Or morse code. Or the pony express.
And suffering leads to typing in all caps and thinking you're the warlord of Texas.
If you have not been charged with anything, there is nothing to expunge from your record, that is if you have a record.
Is that the problem? Do you or your friend have prior felony convictions? Has this self defense shooting become a much larger career criminal/three strike problem?
Were you or your friend on parole when you shot in self-defense?
If you did not get satisfactory answers from your first attorney, call another one.
(Being a brutal satrap has its downside too. You never get invited to all the good parties).
When Clinton was president the cops shot some guy a block or so from the White House. He had a knife and appeared to be standing there about 8 feet from the cop. Of course, the cop shot him in the chest instead of the knee or shoulder, killing him.
He was just standing there.
