Yeah. I remember the old Buddy Ryan thing. When he put a price on the kicker.

Hey at least you're not as bad as my beloved Silver and Black have been this season.

Arlington Tx just voted 300,000 million in tax money to build a new stadium to house the DALLAS COWBOYS, maybe they would like to re vote.

You remember that. Wasn't that in 87 or 88 I think. Before Troy Aikman got there.

Yeah, before Aikman for sure. Can't remember the year exactly.

Of course Troy's first year was a miserable failure: 1989.

Just got home from our workout at Bally's.

On the way back, WBAP had a little 60 Minutes spoof of Andy
Rooney. He started out with:

Did you happen to see that Cowboys game last night? Man,
that was uglier than the bridesmaid at a Lesbian wedding.

LOL!

That's funny, and true. Bill's still got a lot of work cut out for him there in Dallas, but he knew what he was getting into. Remember, he said that in his first ever press conference when hired.

They are in desperate need of d-backs. And for Julius Jones to come back from his broken scapula so we can see what he's got. Is Drew gonna start anytime soon? Since we are going to have a couple of high draft picks next year, we need to know NOW if the kid can play or not, so we can draft a QB with one of em.

One thing that caught my eye when they displayed Henson's college stats last night was 24 TD's and only 7 INT's

"They are in desperate need of d-backs."

This is an understatement. We know where we need to go for the draft and free agency. I'd prefer we pick one or two up on free agency. In today's league, experience means more and more now.

"And for Julius Jones to come back from his broken scapula so we can see what he's got."

We'd all like to know this one. He's looked good and bad. We just don't know yet. Parcells seems to think he can be something. His return should help the Cowboys.

"Is Drew gonna start anytime soon?"

If the Cowboys lose the next couple of games-God forbid-he will likely be starting. If they win the next two, he won't, in order to salvage the remainder of this rocky season. I would look for him to start and pressure from Jones to start him should Dallas lose another game or two. Then, we'll find out. And you're right. We need to find out.

"Since we are going to have a couple of high draft picks next year, we need to know NOW if the kid can play or not, so we can draft a QB with one of em."

This is the vexing dilemma here. Where do you go in the draft versus free agency? With the ever increasing need for the "win now" attitude, the draft becomes less prevalent as free agency continues to dominate the landscape. However, there have been draft successes that have worked nicely: Payton Manning, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, etc...

It seems that we do much better when drafting running backs, defensive linemen, offensive linemen, and linebackers. It seems more appropriate to pick up a quarterback and defensive backs from free agency. And then there's the question of money. So it isn't an easy solution to fix. We'll see where the Cowboys are going to go over the next couple of weeks. If they drop the next two, look for changes to be made.

They've tried everything in their arsenal up to now and it isn't working. So, it appears they're back to the drawing board again.

I'd like to see how he plays out in the pros. I'm for starting him. I think this season is quickly becoming a wash. So let's get him into the mix and see where it goes.

Draft Possibilities:

Mike Williams, WR, USC (we definitely need a Playmaker at WR. What we got won't cut it.)
Matt Lienart, QB, USC (if Drew Henson doesn't pan out. This is why it's so important to get a good look at him NOW)
Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami (Potential shutdown NFL corner)

Obviously I am hoping for Buffalo to lose the rest of their games, since we own their first pick.

I would be curious to know which QB's and CB's are coming up on free agency in 2005. If we could somehow maneuver to get Mike Williams in the draft, there is the playmaker we need on offense. Maybe even a T.O or Randy Moss type talent.

(sigh) Let's face it. We need help all around.
