The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, maybe it's because ROTK was so anticipated, you know?

I mean, before we actually saw FOTR for the first time, weren't you a bit skeptical? We knew ROTK would be good.

And besides, I got a chance to see that one with some of my best friends.

;-)

You should have mailed 'em back a lutefisk!

On dialup now, Earthlink is down, as usual.

Yeah, Fellowship will always be the sentimental favorite.

I remember sitting in my seat five minutes after the credits ended, stuned by the whole experience. I was already in love with the film in the first five minutes, but at the end I was convinced that PJ would somehow pull it off. It wouldn't be the book brought to the screen, but a movie that was as true to the spirit of the book as the medium, and the run time, would allow.

In other Jr. news, wife is having second thoughts about the homeschooling. I know part of it is that until Nana is more mobile, she simply can't take on any more responsibility. We'll see what happens.

I can understand her thoughts on that. Taking care of an aging parent is an enormous stress load; homeschooling a reluctant teen in addition to that would be TOO much, I think. I'm keeping you both in my prayers for the situation with Nana. I didn't really help that much with my Mama because I live so far away, but when I was with her, it was a LOT of work. I frankly don't know how the caregiver did it; but then Mama always treated her better than she did her daughters. ;o) It was a strange function of the disease.

Maybe I'll make her lose her job and move to a better town and get over herself already.

Might even give the author some ideas! ;o)

And Showboat and Annie Get Your Gun.

Yep, those too. I'm not a hugh fan of Annie Get Your Gun, but I do like Showboat.

I just don't own it like I do the ones I mentioned.

Good morning!

Monday...ick.

Saw some snowflakes as I was coming into work. The sky is mostly blue, so it was just flurries. Pretty...but not quite as cute as they were even a week ago.
