The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh. I'm 5000 words behind but at least I got all the books moved.

I'm only a little behind.

It's just...my character started out being like me, and now is even MORE like me. And...what a loser she is! Man...

Maybe I'll make her lose her job and move to a better town and get over herself already.

I think I might get the toaster to take action. All my characters are cardboard.

Literally cardboard?

Nah...my characters aren't characters.

Maybe the toaster should go ballistic.

My story could use a ballistic toaster.

It really needs livening up.

In any case, something baaaaad needs to happen. I just haven't decided whether or not to stick with the realism or to just go nuts.

I have to find something to send the toaster over the edge.

Oversized bagels?

Yeah...I could have Guido stuff a bagel in there. Only I had thought to get Guido and the toaster in cahoots against the local thugs.

The toaster doesn't fool the cat though, and the cat likes the toaster.

I hate chasing a wounded animal too, I never shoot unless I'm sure the first shot will kill cleanly and quickly. With my marksmanship that means not being further out than my confidence level, which is 100 yds.

I am pretty impressed with your turkey...haven't heard of one being killed by bow until your post. Good going!

And happy Thanksgiving, of course!

I'm clearly not going to have a wild one to eat, but will at least put a store bought one in the smoker. 'Course, that is pretty great too.

If you are taking antibiotics, that means a bacterial infection?

Could one of the local thugs try to silence the toaster with a bagel?

I like my other story better. It's mediocre, too...but at least the characters don't sicken me. A few I even like.

Next year I think I'll write a prequel for that story as my NaNo project, if I haven't already started it.

We had one when Ramius and I were kids... I think they gave it away to one of my uncles.

Well I could have Guido try the bagel stunt and that's how he gets wise to the toaster. Or I could get Guido's partner to do it and then kill him off.

"I am talking toaster and you better be nice to me."

As long as all her extra bony ridges are on her nose...

Yep... a serious babe.

Evening OT: We got the driveway patched and sealed. Sakrete asphalt patch and Ace driveway sealer, looks good. To be honest, it apparently takes 6 gallons and I got five, soooo.
Off to the place with helpful hardware man in the a.m. Luckily it's on 'end of season' sale. Gotta get more floor place for electric gnomes, snowmen and reindeer. In a hardware store, sheesh.
