I hate chasing a wounded animal too, I never shoot unless I'm sure the first shot will kill cleanly and quickly. With my marksmanship that means not being further out than my confidence level, which is 100 yds.

I am pretty impressed with your turkey...haven't heard of one being killed by bow until your post. Good going!

And happy Thanksgiving, of course!

I'm clearly not going to have a wild one to eat, but will at least put a store bought one in the smoker. 'Course, that is pretty great too.

Evening Sam - "wild turkey" that should get a few comments. Smoked turkey is great, someday we may try doing it that ourselves.

A few years ago we took a couple pheasants in to a BBQ place for smoking. Turned out quite nice. Had to keep an eye out for #6 shot though.

The key is knowing your abilities, then stickin' within 'em... good on yuh...

thanks fer the kudos... that is actually my second turkey with a crossbow... my first was four years ago at 30 yards... takin' one with a crossbow ain't near as challengin' as with a bow...

mmmmmmmm... turkey on the smoker...
