The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Makes sense. I would think it would hold a LOT of 'part of people'.
I have put a mustang in a ditch due to small amount of water on a road but I would certainly expect a Villager to be more surefooted. I drive an '88 Towncar. Not sexy but it laughs at snow and ice. I might lose control but it has so much mass that I know it will be still traveling in the same general direction when I get it stable again. I love a good snow because I can take all the corners sideways :D

((((Rosie))))

You are in no way an idiot. That was pretty flippin' scary and I don't blame you one bit for going into "just-wanna-get-to-work" mode!

I am so happy you are safe!

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Oh, no, Rosie!

I think in the circumstances, you did as well as could be expected. I am so glad the tire is ok - I popped one off a rim once. Didn't lose control, but not fun.

It sounds like a horrible experience. It also sounds like Someone was watching out for you - no other car, you didn't get hurt, you didn't have any visible damage...

Yeah, I think I had someone protecting me, for sure!

But I also think I'm gonna be a little paranoid about driving for awhile. Maybe that's a good thing, though. This first part of the winter - when it's still fairly warm and therefore wet - is the most dangerous time of the year for driving. When it's really cold, it's usually really dry, even when (if) we get snow.

I also should bake brownies or cookies for the maintenance guy who mounted my tire on the rim for me. Seriesly! I owe him big time!

I've never had trouble in snow before! Which is why I think the tire musta come off.

Gonna be awhile before I trust it again!

If it's not one thing, it's another. Looks like the forces of darkness are trying to crowd in on you and Steve as you make the run up to the end of his Master's work. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

I'm so glad you weren't hurt!! Been there and done that! Did a 180 on a slippery road in my big van once. Thankfully there were no cars coming from the opposite direction because I couldn't have done anything about it if I'd wanted to!

I've ruined two tires this year from riding too long on them when they were flat. I didn't realize I'd picked up junk and punctured them, and the roads were so bad I couldn't tell they were flat!

Bake some cookies or breads for those folks; they love it!

Jeepers ladies, it's just a broken spring!

Just ~maybe~ God is trying to ensure sustenance for the spring-makers!

Or, just maybe, springs wear out.

I think they are talking about more things than the spring. "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action."

I know.... but it seems like pretty measley work for the devil, to be wreaking his vengeanc on a garage door spring in Tulsa Oklahoma. I picture him having more power, and more important work to do than that!

Wowowow Rosie! Glad you (and apparently the car) are both OK. What a scary experience.
