The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

No, it takes a few days...I'll probably find out Monday or Tues.

I went very well...last time the lady hurt me and my blood wouldn't come out and she finally figured out that the needled kinda needed to be up at an angle. This time, I told them everything that happened and they did it very well.

Got my "it's a Jingle out there...give blood" tee-shirt...vey festive!

Well, guess what.

We got home last night, pulled into the garage (our gigantic garage that can fit three cars if you put one cross-wise at the back), but the garage door down and heard an AWFUL crashing sound!

The spring that works the garage door opener broke in three places.

Steve and I had to disconnect it from the mechanism and haul that door up by hand. And let me tell you, it was HEAVY complete dead weight. It wouldn't stay up either, so while Steve held the door up, I backed his truck back out (so he could go to work this morning).

This is a huge garage door, too...not some little thing...and it is meant to have a garage door opener. I used to could open it myself in a pinch while disconnected from the opener, but apparently the springs that broke are what helped me do it.

Sigh.

I'm really getting into the Active Directory lately, and lovin' it. It's a fine thing for remote users. Can force firewalls and antivirus b34 allowing access to the knotwork.

How you do dat? We use Active Directory and do various things...but that's a new one.

In other news...I was just in my first ever car accident, other than a few parking lot bumper scrapes. More on that once I finish shaking.

That little car has soooo many places to store things already that it boggles the mind! But I liked Hair's idea of books on CD.

oh dear Rosie....

Waiting to hear about your car.... I am assuming you are OK since you didn't say "More on that once I finish bleeding"

Good morning everyone.

Good morning!

It's Rewind Friday as we call it around here! Today is the day we rewind all our video tapes after each class, getting them ready to record another weeks worth again!

Coolness! I'd love to see it.

When I order this year's DVD, I'll get an extra copy of last years and send it out. We can do like Flat Frodo, but you don't have to take a picture with it.

Last year they significantly improved the filming process. We used to just get a one shot videotape of the stage. Now, it's edited professionally. So, it will be a few months before this year's final is out. But I'll circulate one of those too.

Y'all have lived through me talkin' about this long enough. I reckon you ought to see what we're really doing.

Mornin'

Rosie. Sorry about your accident. I'm assuming too that your ability to post means you're pretty much okay.

Still (and I'm sure y'all aren't the least bit surprised), I know what it's like to be in a car accident...well, okay....four...

Well, they've already posted my cholesterol and it's not good news. But it's not as bad as it was. But they also posted a blood pressure that isn't what they told me or wrote on my card, so maybe it's a mix-up?? This is what I wrote them...

Hi! I donated blood last night and to my surprise, my cholesterol was already posted today! Also, there is a blood pressure posted that isn't what they told me or wrote on my card that was given me. Could there have been mix-up with someone else? I hope? I hope?

I don't want my cholesterol to be that high! If this really is my cholesterol result, could you change that for me? Ha! Just kidding.

Kim

Morning!

OMG Rosie! I'm glad you're OK. Please fill us in on the details when you've had time to settle your rattled nerves, OK?

Corin - Glad to hear that all went fairly well last night!

Ramius - I'm sorry I abandoned you last night. Baby was fussing and I logged off as soon as I posted to Rosie. FWIW, great playlist last night. I hummed along as I caught up! :-D

I AM SUCH A MORON!!

I was looking at the results from Dec. 2001!!!!

Argh...I had to write them back telling them to disregard.

Anyway...there's hope for the cholesterol still!

Do they post such things on the web? I have not given in a while but if my old data is out there some place it would be interesting to see.

Rosie: We all hope you are fine and I also hope your car is not too bad off. At least tell us you are fine. You can save the full account for later.

Oklahoma Blood Institute does...it's independent from the Red Cross. They have their own testing facilities right on the premises. After 9/11, when everyone was donating blood, they were able to get the blood right to New York, right away...Here's the story.

Steve donated right away, after 9/11...I waited and donated a month later to make up for any dip in the supply from so many people donating at once after 9/11.

I like to donate, but just never "got around to it" for a long time. But now, what with our troops needing blood and such...it's probably best to help keep the supplies up. And OBI does the cholesterol testing and that's a plus for me...gives me an idea of how I'm doing.
