Be quiet and read for awhile.
> unfortunately pissed off a few folks already
And I daresay you've just done it again.
Content-free vanity articles are impolite.
stop doing that and maybe you can stay.
You have been reported for abuse. This is not news nor is it activism. Please refrain from posting threads that are sound and fury signifying nothing.
I'm usually atleast 0.12 when I post something like this.
Spelling mistakes or grammar errors are unforgiven on this site.
That Im New post had some content. Yours is just clutter. This forum is too big for dozens of these a day.
Phasers set on stune.....fer now.
Doesn't matter what you "plan". Piss off enough people and you're gone.
And lose the "hey". No adult reads a post beginning with a Bevis and Butthead moment.
Now if your intention here is to piss people off, great, but at least do it with wit and style....
That's better than being "used".
If you want to know what people think of the issues.........READ!
and I'm blue ;o) Welcome Aboard Newbie...you'll have lots of fun at FR and will be educated as well. ;o)
As long as you agree with me on every issue, you won't have any problems....
...where the "old-timers" were MUCH more understanding than some of the bozos who have posted to you on THIS thread. :(
I want to be a FReeper

I reemember MY first few months on FR, and am here to tell you:
WELCOME to Free Republic, indexpatient! Please try to ignore the incivility that you have experienced thus far on this forum. There have been MANY "disruptors" recently who have attempted to join this forum during the last few days of this crucial presidential election, and many folks here have apparently allowed their understandable apprehension about those new "bad" FReepers to interfere with their otherwise cheerful dispositions.
"17 and republican,"i.e., on OUR side. :o)
This is a GOOD thing, right?Perhaps we should cut the new kid some slack around here, eh?
Howdy! Welcome to FreeRepublic.com .....Glad to have you aboard FR (FreeRepublic.com). Since you're new, I thought I would send you something that might make your stay on FR easier and better. It will give you info about FR and also on HTML picture and link posting, etc.
Here is a link. Go to post #116 first (link should take you right to that post), and look under "Pictures". That will give a walk-thru for picture posting. That article gives a lot of very useful and helpful tips on HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), which you need to post on FR. There are other related links and information there as well.

You might want to bookmark that article. Bookmarking puts an article on your FReeper Profile page for quick and easy referencing. See post #53 & 59 for bookmarking instructions. If you have any questions or problems, feel free to send me a Freep mail or a note and well work through it.
Welcome, and Thanks [Newbies Especially, Please Read]

Welcome to Free Republic!
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of writing the following:
Yesterday was, by the measure of distinct posters, the busiest day ever in the history of Free Republic, as 4,282 distinct usernames posted. Fan-freepin'-tastic. This beat the previous record by a dozen or two.
Even more impressive, yesterday was the busiest day in the history of Free Republic as measured by total articles + replies, with a whopping 31,153. The previous record was somewhat below 30,000.
Signups had their 8th highest day ever, behind 7 consecutive days after the 2000 elections.
I am happy to say that yesterday was even busier, with 4,313 distinct posters, an all-time high. The posts+replies measure just missed duplicating the previous day's record, with the tally at 31,069. 333 new signups were made (the 4th highest one day total ever), and although some of these were trolls, the vast majority were not.
I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the rest of the staff for everyone's help in making things continue to run smoothly, for pointing out disruptors, and for keeping the discussion lively but (for the most part) civil. Abuse has not increased with load, and for that we are grateful.
To all the new posters, welcome. If you have questions about how things work, feel free to ask them on this thread. I am sure many freepers will be happy to chime in with help.
Some recent threads which might be helpful to newbies:
HTML help can be found on this thread and this thread.
At one time, someone had started collecting information for a Free Republic FAQ. The effort died, but there is some good information on that thread here.
Some information about graphics etiquette can be found on this thread.
The site's owner, Jim Robinson, has asked for some consideration regarding posting articles to the sidebars. More here.
Speaking of sidebars, this thread has all you need to configure which topics show up for you as sidebars, and in what order. More here.
What are vanities? They are posts that start threads, where instead of being an article from another source, the article is written by the person posting the thread. What do you need to know about vanities? This thread should help. It also has some words on types of posts that are not welcome here...

Could you name one issue that might be tops on your list - something you feel you need or want to talk about - in order to get other opinions -
just wondering -
