I am appalled.
I want you "old-Timers" take a good hard look at how each and every one of you are welcoming the "newbies" to this very Site called FREEREPUBLIC.
Isn't the very idea of enlightening the public to the ideas of conservatism of any relevance to you? I witnessed a fellow Freeper downright insult a "newbie" on this board by telling the poster to "take a hike".
Is this how you want to represent the Republican/Conservative ideas that we adamantly believe are better for our Nation? Simply stated, it is both offensive and insulting to anyone who may wish to learn more, use what they learn, and become involved.
Yes, I too, am considered a "newbie". I have lurked here since 2000, but recently added my screenname to make a few comments and get added to ping lists of importance to me. But don't be decieved by thinking I am ignorant or any less valid than any old-timer. I proudly served in the Gulf War 1 under George HW Bush. I work diligently campaigning for Bush's re-election. I consistenly walk the turf to register new Republicans to vote, and remain active with HSLDA's Generation Joshua to raise a future generation of Americans with conservative values. And I avidly fight any legislation that affect my rights to homeschool my children.
A newbie by adding a screen name here, yes. A newbie to the world of conservatism, maybe not, you just cannot determine that by the date a person registers to Freerepublic. But invalidating our efforts and intents by telling us to "take a hike" because we are new should be scorned by all.
Many of you have locked yourselves into a "Freeper Club" mentality, which could prove to becoming rotten fruit in turning away those who want to become part of the process, instead of part of the problem.
I highly suggest that as more of us "newbies" come, you can feel honored in knowing your message is getting out. And now that you are getting them here, please show the consideration of welcoming, training, and acknowledging their questions and concers. Any good Conservative should feel blessed to have the opportunity to do so.
Believe me...You don't want to go there...I am a 5th generation Texan.
Things will get really interesting post-election, when we can all go back to our NORMAL family fighting!
I have finally started to consider the same thing. Any suggestions? :)

I think that is the plan....although some are straining at the bit to get back to normal fighting....It's been awhile since I was called a RINO or a CINO...Ah, the good old days.
Okay - I believe you and will stay away!!!!!
I envy your ancestry - wish I had been born here - this state is spectacular and I can't imagine ever leaving.
(my kids do not share my enthusiasm - they can't snowboard here and one has his eyes set on turning pro!!!)
>because no one will want to be attacked for their views.<
Pssst.
FR should not be an echo chamber or security blanket.
FR should not protect "its own", like a family, but via its members test POSTS, not the people behind them.

FOR THE RECORD: CBS Memos Controversy on Free Republic

Start at the end of the Kerry thread and work back for info...The other is just an interesting recent history thread .
It has 256 colors! ; )
Tone it down a little, chickadee, and you'll get along a whole lot better with everyone, newbies and oldbies.
I know exactly what you mean.
I have been watching ever since I had my encounter with them. I think they are just bullies that never got over their childhood humiliation on the playground.
Now, in the name of protecting FR, they think they have license to hurt and humiliate others; especially the new and vulnerable.
A lot of good people are being run off into eternal hatred of conservatives by the actions of this gang of juvenile, playground, minded, asinine bullies.
Maybe FR should require posters to pass a test on proper board conduct before posting.
That seems much better than the hazing that happens now, as a lame excuse for instruction.
The whole world is starting to look here to find examples of conservative bloggers.
Should their first encounter be the worst we have to offer, bullies?
As it is now, asinine, bullies are the welcome committee at FR.
Is that what you want?
Welcome to FR!
If your points are valid, folks will generally respect them.
I think it's nice to have "newbies". Maybe good, conservo "newbies" will eventually replace the liberal "old-timers". :-)
You forgot to put "vanity" in your title.
I do not have any admiration for them but like any enemy, I respect their power and the demographics they enjoy to our peril and sorrow.
We cannot beat them by withdrawing, we must engage relentlessly but to do that we have to comport ourselves in a way reasonable people will have a right to expect.
Hey you should have been around posting when we didn't have spell check or for some of us our proper usage of the english language would get flamed constantly.
Things aren't as tough on newbies as they where in my newbie days. 1998
"You forgot to put "vanity" in your title."
Thank you perch, I will remember that the next time I come down with "open mouth, insert foot" syndrome.......
Oh and any newbie with dog or breed of a dog in there screen name can't be all that bad.
If you are a canine fan you might be interested in getting on "HairoftheDog" (poster) Doggie Ping List
How do I get on the lists for pings?
Beagle fanatic here.....rabbits beware!!!!
Watch I will show you.
