The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ooh...I love that movie! One of my favorites.

I'm a big Jim Cagney fan. He wasn't usually a musical kinda guy, but it works in that particular movie.

It's not strictly factual when it comes to Cohan's real life, but I think it's still a decent portrayal of the times he lived in.

Oops...Jimmy Cagney. Or maybe should just say James Cagney.

But I know who I mean, in any case!

Is that with James (Jimmy? Heh...) Stewart? Or was it Gary Cooper...?

If I saw that one, it was a long, long time ago.

It's turned into a nice day here! On the cool side, but not too much. And sunny. Makes me sad to be stuck inside.

Hah, found the code for the parallel programming assignment. Now that should be... less than fun...

Can anybody help me with Netscape7.1?

I've lost my down load manager. It happened once before and I was trying to figure it out and either accidently got it back or it just decided on its own to come back. I can't down load pics without it.

When I pull down the tool window it has, search, form manager, cookie manager, password manager, pop up manager, down load manager and web developement on it but the down load manager is the only one of them that doesn't have the little black triangle beside it. When I either right click or left click the down load manager it doesn't do anything.

I need it explained to me in simple terms or I won't get it anyway.

Thanks for any help you can give.

P.S.- Yes, I'm logged in.

*sigh* It's truly lovely outside here. Unfortunately I have class at six and don't have time for dillydallying...gotta take care of the animules, grab something to eat, read the next chapter in my book, and head back.

But if it's still sorta warm, I'm going out, dark or no dark.

Yeah, a lot has happened in the last year, hasn't it?

Well, I just got the confirmation of my RSVP for the Jeopardy audition. And I ordered a study guide from Amazon.

I read about this place in the Pensacola News Journal a couple of days after the storm. Did you see the picture of the condo that I posted? That is the place we usually stay when we go down to Perdido Key for SSQ's family reunion. The storm surge was strongest there on the Key, and that corner of the condo is the closest point to the water on the whole key! The entire balcony area on that wing is breaking away from the building. Ivan washed away the dunes, scoured ALL of the grass that was in front of the building, and three or four feet of the foundation of the building is exposed, as well as the coping and three feet of the walls of the swimming pool. It's likely the whole building will have to come down.

We saw some aerial footage of the Key, and some homes that were being built on the road right behind the condos are still standing. They are being built of concrete!

Well, I thought it was hysterically funny, personally! ;-)

We're back from Latin. I'm so glad I got the teacher's manual from you...it's been a godsend already.
