The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Seasons are one of the things I really like about Vermont. Yes, I do complain come January...but that's why it's good to have friends in southern climes...

You complain January through whenever the atmosphere thaws, but that's ok.

My mom liked okra too. She would try to sneak it into stuff, but we always caught on. She occassionally made rhubarb, another one of my favorites--not!!!

Mwahaha, you were supposed to.

Sigh. Another gorgeous, blue-sky day spent largely indoors. I am definitely leaving early for class and walking the scenic route.

I do?

Oops...

Well, maybe this year'll be different, since I plan to be outside more.

The worst month is January, though, 'cause it's really too cold to do much outside, so you don't even get to enjoy it being winter.

Is the sky really blue in the outside world? Tell me what it's like...

I can see outside through the slats in the windows. There's sun somewhere, but my window faces west so it's not there yet. And yes, the sky is blue, with a few tracings of white cloud near the horizon. The trees are green still... people are walking about in short sleeves, so it must be a very pleasant day.

I'd complain if I had to thaw my car for half an hour in the morning, too.

Actually the past couple of days weren't so bad. It's overcast today and we're supposed to be getting the residuals of Ivan by the weekend...

Don't remind me!

When it gets to the point where I'm happy it snowed an inch or two at night because that's easier to clear than frost...it's time for spring!
