Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I was dating a guy in high school that was supposed to pick me up for a date, right? So I got all dressed, ready to go. And waited. And waited. When he didn't show, my mom started in on how I must have done SOMETHING to run him off, how I never could find a nice boy to date....on and on. I was miserable. I felt awful.
I was hacked.
He called me very late that night...said he'd driven off the bridge, totaled his truck.
I told him I never wanted to hear from him again.

I just got tickets for Clare and me to go to the Lord of the Rings symphony performance this Sunday in Hartford, CT!! Unfortunately, Howard Shore won't be conducting, but a conductor named Alastair Willis who is from Seattle will be the guest conductor for the performance! We're really excited about it.
I asked a friend of mine to take over the Grille at the Festival so I could get away on Sunday, and she agreed immediately to do it for me. What a gal!! We're gonna need to rush back, though because the rehearsal for Clare's Confirmation Mass is that night!
Do you remember how long the whole thing lasted when you went?

Well, your mom's reaction deserves a big ol' PFFFFT!! (sorry,Mom if'n you're reading this.)
And I feel terrible for the poor fella who lost a great date and his truck on the same night!
Not to mention, upset over the fact that you had to have insult added to injury.

If a guy went on a date with me and called me again, there was something wrong with him. If a guy went on a date with me and didn't call me again, there was something wrong with me.

Joshua just called me back to the bathroom. He'd just made a pattern of water droplets on the side of the tub. He told me "I've been working on this for four hours...maybe two hours!"
LOL!!!

Yeah...pretty twisted, huh? But after what I'd been through that night, I swear...no excuse was good enough.

Made sense to me... why would she want to go out with a guy who drives off of bridges?

This bridge was a really old wooden bridge...went over Chocolate Bayou. Used to terrify me. When I was little, before the days of seatbelts or car seats, I would huddle in the floorboard when we went over. It was on the way to my uncle's house.

Here is the bayou...Chocolate Bayou.

This may even be the location of the bridge...but this is not the bridge. I think my mom mentioned they tore the old wooden one down and built a new one.

Okra is yucky-slimy-gooey!
My mamma loved her okra! She had a special little cast iron frying pan, like an omlette pan but smaller, and she would slice it up and scramble it with an egg, and some tomato.
To: 2Jedismom
I have no response to that!

I dunno 2J... as excuses go... totalling one's truck is better than average. Heck, I've gotten off with *way* lamer excuses than that. :-)
