Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

There's a Lexicon? ooo that explains the 'Precious' thing... and I read it 2 minutes to late to get it. Blast! Trixie hobbits.

Have been run off my feet by different people, mostly DemonLady who had two end-of-the-world problems that I just had to fix, right away, and which were most certainly my fault.I wonder if she's kin to "she who needs ritalin".

My sister and her husband are Marines but my dad was Air Force for 21 years so I am an Air Force Brat. He retired right about the time I started college.
Yeah I use to play some piano and some violin. Never did get very good at either. Come to think of it I have a very long list of things I 'used to do' but 'never got that good at it'.

There's a Lexicon? Of COURSE there's a lexicon. Do we hafta assign you homework?
Speaking of which...I think Fedora must have gotten lost somewhere back in the archives. It's Corin's fault...

Kin to Shelob is more like it. Ugh.
Just had to do some support for an elf... smelly elf, though. And I wasn't very helpful.

I hadn't known that about your Dad being in the Air Force. So did you guys live a LOT of different places growing up?
Come to think of it I have a very long list of things I 'used to do' but 'never got that good at it'.
Don't we all...

I don't wanna be bridesmaid.
Still dreading my brother's wedding a bit. It's going to be a pretty big deal. We don't DO big deals very well. I'll probably end up standing nervously in a corner with Dad and Margaret.
At least I'll have company in the doesn't-do-well-in-big-social-situations department....
I still haven't called about getting measured for the dress. Ugh.

Mostly midwestish. Oklahoma, Ohio, Arkansas, Illinois, Ohio again, then off to school in Indiana and now I work in Iowa. They also moved 4 times while I was in college and that was AFTER the Air Force. Their in Texas now and I consider myself from there more than any place because I have a lot of family there (most of Mom's side).
To: RosieCotton
See? Your brother's getting married. That means he has to work out all the "family wedding problems", so when it's your turn, it'll be a breeze!
I want to be a bridesmaid for someone I actually like, not a least-favorite brother and his fiance.... bridesmaids should be the bride's friends, anyway.

Oh I checked those ages ago.
She has more pics on her profile but you don't.
To: RosieCotton
Oy, it's Monday and they've been running me off my feet. I'm less than a third of the way through the Day From Hell, and I need something to distract me.
Besides, you're both nice people... both deserve a happily ever after... you could try a backgammon site for a while and see what happens.... ;-)

One, I'm waiting for more weight loss, two, I don't have many people to take pics for me these days. Maybe I'll put up my mountain-hiking-pics later.
And to be fair, you ought to put up a few pics too. Those ones of you at the rally the other day were I think the first we've seen of you.

You should put up some of your pics from the rally / speechifying on your profile!
And Jen should put some of the Colorado pictures...

Backgammon will never again have the meaning it use to have, some obscure game I don't remember the rules of.
To: SuziQ
Dan loves okra, but since I'm "The Cook of the Household" he doesn't get it! I probably just don't know how to cook it correctly, it just seems so slimy. Had a recipe for Okra Croutons once, they were pretty good, but I had to wipe the slimy stuff off the okra for what seemed like hours before I could proceed with the recipe--last time I made those.
