Parrot Visits New Jersey Turnpike Offices
Wed Aug 25,10:05 AM ET
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - New Jersey Turnpike officials are trying to find the owner of a parrot that dropped in on them unexpectedly.
The colorful Amazon parrot flew into a window Monday and landed stunned on a walkway.
The bird ran around as workers scrambled to catch it.
Finally, a cinnamon bagel was enough to lure the bird into a box.
Anyone who tries to claim the 12-inch green-and-yellow bird must show proof of ownership.

Had it been a gerbil, all hell would've broken loose.

The colorful Amazon parrot flew into a window Monday and landed stunned on a walkway. When asked about this incident, Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry responded, "Once, when I was in Viet Nam, I had a pet parrot. Me and the guys named him 'Uncle Ho'. When my boat was hit, hard under, by a mine, Uncle Ho flew into the air. He wasn't ever seen again. It's mazing, how powerful that mine was, for him to have landed all the way out here in new Jersey 30 years later..."

I had something similar happen to me once. I was walking out to get the paper and heard a bird squawk. I thought to myself, "that bird sounds a lot like a parrot", and walked over to see what local bird could make such a sound.
Turns out, it WAS a parrot. Someone's pet had gotten loose.

The Amazon Green-and-Yellow? He's just stunned.

The parrot was heard to say repeatedly...
"McGreeevy sucks, McGreevy sucks..."
To: martin_fierro
The person who claims ownership will have to stand near the bird with a cracker in hand. If the bird flies to his hand, then it's his bird.

I've got an 18 year old amazon blu-front.....It would eat your kitty. Joyfully. It ate a 10 lb Iguana,(only the head) My mother calls her a flying 'can opener'.
Hell hath no fury like a parrot......
