Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Says the guy who's deposed Suzi as Chief Funkler of the board!
It's really not a funkle if it's a spam.

Besides, a funkle is five posts in a row (not spam posts, neither), so that definitely was NOT four funkles, which woulda been 20 posts.

See? He's slandering your reputation without cause!
On the other hand, is 'funkler' worse than 'spammer'?

If you've done a light, you can do a switch or outlet. Just use a circuit tester/voltage probe like this (about $5) to make sure the power is off.

That's on my shoppin' list when I pick up the switch. Thanks.

"Well, it will be in Chicago on October 8-9. Isn't that kinda near you?"
Well, geographically I suppose, but us Green Bay fans like to think Chicago is in a different country :)

I thought WN held the title before me? Anyone have any official funkling stats?
"It's really not a funkle if it's a spam."
I figured a spam could be a member of a set of a series of funkles. Hmmm, this could become another "What is Lembas?" type of debate. . .

Hmmm--well, you do have a point that it wasn't five posts. However, does the term "funkle" refer only to the complete set of posts in a funkle, or can it also refer to the individual posts within the funkle set? Because in the latter case, for instance, if you had five posts in a row constituting a funkle, each of these posts could also be referred to as a funkle.

I had cause: I was jealous she got the Precious and I didn't :)

I think spamming is worse. However spam is also wonderful, so that's kind of a paradox--per Spammenberg's Uncertainty Principle.

Yes, it's a set by the lexicon definition :) But I'm also going by usage, because in the lexicon "funkle" is only defined as a noun, whereas "to funkle" also seems to be a verb, so it seems like there's more than one definition of funkle, and by implication the product of the act of funkling, i.e. the individual post produced by the act of funkling, could also be referred to as a funkle--if you really stretch the definition like I'm trying to do :)

Really? Cool! What'd you listen to? I just burned a cd full of new anime-mp3s to play in my car.
Oh, yeah, and I wanted to say, Fullmetal Alchemist has a lot of violence, a little bad language, but not much, and magic/alchemy. No sex. No cross-dressing or "Dilandu is my sister" moments. You'll probably feel like watching it first, but I'm betting your kids would enjoy it too.
I'm up to 30. It keeps getting more complicated and the implications of people's actions get darker and darker. I love it. Of course, we have to wait for howeverlong to get the whole series, sigh... but it's worth it.

That whole nonsensical Juw Zot thread you've been playing on that has no purpose other than post count, I would consider spam, even though the posts themselves are not all simple repeaters. :~D
SuziQ working her way through 300 posts in the middle of the night with no one there to break up her replies, is a funkle. ;~D
See the difference?

You, too, eh? :) I was trying to download stuff but it was taking forever so I'm going to try again later.
BTW, Jen, which of the FMA songs is the original opening? They have like four or five listed.

Nope..."to funkle" (the verb form) is to post five posts in a row (usually in the middle of the night so's no one interrupts). Funkle (the noun form) refers to the five posts that make up the funkle.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

Nope, you're wrong. Funkle is the whole set of posts. A set of posts less than five might be referred to as a "funkle-let", but probably only if there are at least three. An individual member of a funkle-set is just a post. It contributes to the degree of funkleness of the whole set, but it itself does not contain more qualities than any normal post would.
