The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But I bet it's less than 5 carbs a serving! Totally on any low-carb diet out there!

"my advice to you, is to start drinkin' heavily... "

LOL! Yeah, I forgot to mention that part :) Incidentally, Corin, that cream has an alcohol base, 'cause as we know alcohol has medicinal value :)

I don't eat rodents, low-carb or not.

Sigh... It's a lovely afternoon, I'm not getting much work done (hmm... maybe the music I'm listening to is too exciting. Makes me want to do some sort of head-banging dance). Tonight we're partying, tomorrow I'm going out with a friend for probably the last time before I leave. I'm ready for the weekend to start.

Oh, yeah, and something's trying to inspire me to write. Like I haven't got enough going on.

"Yeah, it is, but that figure was tuition, room and board. He got a full scholarship, though, so he ended up getting his BA for free! He's paying for it NOW though, cause he started Law school last fall!"

Ouch, law school can't be cheap :) A free BA sounds nice, though! Yeah, I wasn't counting room and board. Fortunately that was free for me because my Grandma lived near the university I was attending so I just stayed at her place.

I did a switch. I was skeered (even though I had switched off the power to that room), but it wasn't hard.

We actually have several things that need to be done and were gonna hire someone, but I want this done this weekend. There are lights out the outside of the garage on front and back, but they were never connected (I don't get it). Plus we need some new outlets installed in the garage and the foyer.

Idjit owners before us built the deck and covered up the outdoor outlet. I either need to cut a hole in the deck or have it rewired somewhere else.

I can handle a light or a switch. Beyond that, I just don't trust my skills/experience.

"Catchin' up...

Me, too :)

"I get in hot water if I'm still on the computer when Steve gets home...everyone here that's known me for years is used to my abrupt exits!"

Okay--I thought maybe you were just repressing the urge to say something about my complaint about being in the mid-80s when you're around 100, LOL! BTW today it rained and cooled off here so there's a nice breeze unlike yesterday. How about by you?

"If I didn't want her faith to be supported, I'd send her to a cheaper school than Notre Dame or Boston College!"

Unfortunately it seems like those have both gone pretty secular, too, judging by the folks I knew from those places when I was attending Marquette. Ave Maria is better, though?

"I got on the scale today. Turns out being ill has an upside, I was down near my lowest point."

Heh, my weight-loss secret is that a couple times I got really sick for two weeks and wasn't hungry, so I think I lost about 15 of the 30 pounds I lost that way :)

Glad you're feeling better today.

"The Police, Synchronicity II."

Many miles away
There's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish loch
Many miles away. . .

"I've got a kick like a mule. Perhaps I should invest in steel-toed boots, though."

LOL! I used to wear those when I was walking through bad parts of town where I was expecting trouble. I wore them to a Kung Fu seminar once and the teacher looked at them and smiled and said to me, "Those are very useful." :)

Didn't they try to eat squirrels in Mirkwood in "The Hobbit"? :)
