Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Thanks! I just passed that additional info on to see if it jibes his memory. Wish I knew what the characters were.

After months of forbearance, I hgave lost all self-control and must ask:
What's the deal with box fans?

It's apparently a really archaic honorific, something between "san" and "sama". And you clearly didn't watch RK in Japanese, because Kenshin always uses "dono".

Ooops, you answered that already! I knew I wasn't imagining things, though.
Are the "Lone Wolf" books you have, really small? I've only been able to find a few at the bookstores and I haven't bought them because the pages just aren't big enough.

Box fans are what 2J uses to inflict havoc when she goes round the bend from taking care of her Jedis.
Just kidding, of course, but you really ought to hear the story from her, nobody else tells it as well.

Any chance it'd be easy to find in the archives, Bear? 2J isn't around tonight...she's off partying. ;-)

I'd say I watched about 1/3 of RK in Japanese, but I didn't really pick up any vocabulary--was too preoccupied trying to follow the story.

Yeah, but that was the weird noise Kenshin adds after every name. It's in the manga, too, they keep the Japanese honorifics.
Hmmph... someone needs to practice subtitles more. How comes Scrapped Princess?

I'm partying, too!
Er, no, wait, I'm sitting in bed with the lights out and I'm going to watch two more episodes of anime (man! They just killed a character I liked!) and probably go to bed early. That's my idea of a nice evening.

Are the "Lone Wolf" books you have, really small?Yes, they're 4"x6", sort of a small digest size. They're shrunk down from the original to keep the price of the American edition at $9.95 each; if they were reproduced in their original size, they probably would have had to charge $19.95 per volume (or more), which adds up for 28 volumes!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
That's interesting. Why the high cost? The manga I buy is full-sized, usually not reversed to America format, and costs $10, except one that costs me $8.
It does add up! Which is why I am glad the two series I'm seriously collecting are just starting to come out, I can plop down $20 every two months for the next five years and there's no huge out of pocket expense.
Most America comics, you can more or less start at any time, right? There'll be a few months of connected story, and then it goes to a different one, without a huge narratice arc? It seems like that would be necessary for a property like, say, Spider-man that's been around forever.

I do mind when some pinheaded cheerleader knocks on my door in her $300 miniskirt beggin' for more money. Yeah, that bugs me a bit.LOL! I heard that!!
I don't know about the private Christian schools in the Midwest, but Catholic elementary schools here in MA start at $3000 a year and go up from there! High schools start at about $6000 a year.
