Still round the corner there may wait |

"It was just a 2-panel cameo... Nick and the boys hangin' out in Hell's Kitchen, talking about what they're going to do once America enters the war."
Oh, okay, that makes sense, then. I forgot they were from Hell's Kitchen. You know, I've never been to New York but I feel like I know it from reading Marvel Comics, LOL! I've got a friend from New York and he says, yeah, if you read enough Spidey it's like being there :)
"It would be a Very Bad Thing if random exe files were just allowed to download and run themselves."
That sounds like the plot to a new movie loosely based on a story by Isaac Asimov. . .
Thanks for the tip on freeware.
Moment of truth--just inserted the "Scrapped Princess" disc. . .
Yes! It works! It's alive. . .!
Hey, this one doesn't have any dubbing! I can't cheat on this one :)
Excellent.
Now, what I meant about Scrapped Princess being similar to FMA is that the art-styles are similar. The stories are quite different and the worlds, more different yet.
SP has a nice opening and an even better closer. Wish I could find an mp3 of the close.
I like the way the opening subtitles show you the Japanese as well as the English. I see they give Japanese language tips periodically, too.
Cool opening fight scene with the invisible wall and the guy looking bored while he fights off the attacking army nonchalantly :)
I take it the blonde girl in the back of the wagon is the Scrapped Princess?
Wow, it's hailing something fierce here suddenly! It's really beating on the window.
Heh, I see there's a SP quote to complement the Douglas Adams quote list: "What's two times two?" :)
Hehehehe.... yes... fansubs are, well, fan subtitled anime.
"Hehehehe.... yes... fansubs are, well, fan subtitled anime."
I guess that explains the helpful language tips :)
The news just reported there's 60 mph winds kicking up about 30 miles from here. Anti-tornado prayers requested.
Also, fansubbers always keep the honorifics. Some professionally-subtitled anime does the same. But sometimes the fansubber gets something wrong, or translates it strangely - the fansub I have of the first episode of FMA translates a word as "Sorcerer's Stone" that everywhere else is "Philosopher's Stone" (which goes with alchemy, of course). It also misses that one minor bad guy is called "Gluttony"...
If you see munchkins, you've hit Oz. Hope there aren't tornados, though.
"If you see munchkins, you've hit Oz. Hope there aren't tornados, though."
There was a lady on a bicycle that flew past a minute ago. . .
So far most of the fansub "extras" seem to be explaining honorifics. BTW speaking of "Gluttony" I thought it was cool FMA named the villains after the Seven Deadly Sins like that--I may have to steal that idea. . .
I've only seen three of the seven, so who knows how many of them there are.
The professionally-dubbed, legal copies of "Fruits Basket" I have also preserve the honorifics, use Japanese name format, and will explain one or two little things. Other than that, fansubs do the best job. (Lol! Remembering a fansub that insisted on using "phrase drive" instead of "phase drive". The expression was in English....)
I like that "Top 30 Japanese Phrases in the Anime" there, too.
A phrase drive is a warp drive that speeds up how fast you talk past the speed of light, right? :)
How's the weather by you? The news says some of what we're getting is going your way, too.
I'm getting the hang of how to draw anime hair from looking at Scrapped Princess' hair. Bangs are basically like big "M"s but with more zigzags, plus you add a different-colored smaller set of zigzags inside the big "M" for the layered effect.
Not everyone has the same hair! Remember that...
"Not everyone has the same hair! Remember that..."
Good point--which I should bear in mind before I get prone to draw everyone with the same hair (which I've noticed many illustrators are prone to do). Hmmm--need to build a file of "anime hair types". . .
Ooh, Christopher Armolite has a halberd--cool :)
And the satelite doesn't just provide classes...you can also watch movies and theatrically plays, seminars and such. And also, some of the classes are during the day...and the jedis enjoy watching them! For example...first grade science is on right now and the jedis have been watching it. All five classes...they are just sitting in the living room watching a week's worth of science classes! Sure, it's first grade, too old for Joshua and too young for Matthew, but apparently it doesn't make any difference...they are answering the teacher anyway! LOL (Remember Matthew ought to be just finished with 2nd grade so he's a young kid anyways..)
